  1. Nothing annoys me more than Argentinians acting like they’re English colonists and not Falklanders who’ve been there for about 8 generations.

You occasionally see Argentinians on Reddit on this subject and they’re so brainwashed to think Argentinas claim is in the right.

    >She later added: “If they feel English, they should go back to the thousands of miles away where their country is.”

Remind me how all these white people with Spanish and Italian sounding names came to be in Argentina

As someone who has actually spent time in the Falklands speaking to people from there, the idea that the people who are from there are occupying another territory is laughable. The people on the Falklands are the indigenous people – descendants of the first people from the islands.  They just want to get on with their lives peacefully, go on hikes, drive quad bikes, get drunk, play roller hockey, pay £2 for an overripe banana and make questionable jam, and not feel scared that another dictator (Argentinian or American) is going to use them to boost their election chances.

The Falklands war is one of the only conflicts where we can say we were 100% the ‘good guys’.

  4. Honestly Starmer should take action to integrate the islands more into core British society. Kind of like the French do with their territories.

  5. The crazy thing is it isn’t only Argentina. Most of Latin America, Spain, and Italy support Argentina’s claim. It’s especially disappointing with Latin America that they would support Argentina’s colonialism and imperialism after the history of the region.

They voted on it and chose to be British by an overwhelming majority. It would be the same if the vote happened today. They have chosen to be British and the Argentinians need to accept that and move on, otherwise they just look foolish every time they try to reignite this discussion.

Unpopular opinion: I don’t give a fuck about the Falkland Islands. Argentina could waltz in with their military tomorrow and the UK couldn’t even _dream_ of a repeat of last time, our navy wouldn’t survive the fucking journey.

It’s a vote-winner in Argentina so it comes up when they need to sound all sabre-rattly.

Other than that, does the UK actually give a shit?

Like, US policy is to actively support the Argentinian claim kind of a shit?

Argentina never had any claim to these islands because they weren’t covered in the independence treaty from Spain.

Imagine France sabre-rattling over Jersey and Guernsey… oh wait they don’t.

Have you met Starmer? All landmass is tradeable. He’d probably sell England if he didn’t live here
