    1. >“In just a few weeks, the United States and Canada will be among those to welcome the world as hosts of the FIFA World Cup,“ Charles said as Trump looked on. „So, in one sense, Mr. President, as heads of state, we are joint hosts.“

A nice gentle reminder to Trump that Charles is our head of state *and* that Canada is jointly hosting the FIFA World Cup with the USA and Mexico.

      >“I can only say, as the head of state of five competing countries, I will be watching the matches closely and with great enthusiasm. After all, we always like favourable odds,“ Charles said.

Now that is a wry sense of humour!

      >“As the constitutional monarch, there are certain things he can and cannot say as King. But Charles has been an activist his whole life, he’s learned how to get points across even though he’s supposed to be non-political,“ Milnes said in an interview with CBC News. „Everything that man says is carefully considered.“

Which is in stark contrast to the other head of state in question. I’m not convinced much of anything in the way of forethought or careful consideration is taken for any utterances Trump makes which aren’t read from a prompter.

      >“On this occasion, I cannot help noticing the readjustments to the East Wing, Mr. President, following your visit to Windsor Castle last year. I am sorry to say that we British, of course, made our own attempt at real estate redevelopment of the White House in 1814,“ he said, to much laughter.

This jab is decidedly *Canadian*. It’s a point of national pride that the White House was set ablaze by our forebearers.

      >“You recently commented, Mr. President, that if it were not for the United States, European countries would be speaking German.

      >“Dare I say that, if it wasn’t for us, you’d be speaking French,“ Charles said, referencing the Seven Years‘ War in the 18th century, in which Britain defeated the French in North America.

Another gentle reminder; this time that *history is long* and the USA may not be as important or *lasting* as the Americans think it to be.

I thought this state visit was a terrible idea. I was wrong, the King is showing us exactly what a constitutional monarch is supposed to do. Vivat Rex!

I was so happy when he said that. Trump respects the monarchy so much. That’s is the best development to finally end 51st state nonsense

    4. I never thought I’d say I like Charles but I do. He’s really come into his own and put his own stamp on the monarchy after QE2 passed.

We sure are owning the Americans who want(ed) to make us the 51st state by doubling down on the fact that we are run by a foreign king 🙂🙂🙂

Inb4 a monarchist says „Canada’s king and Britain’s king are two separate entities“.
