  1. Who are these people talking to? Who has ever said Japanese culture is not the center of Japanese society?

  2. bold claim from a country built on Chinese civilization and recently remade in the US’s image

  3. When I open up Japanese version of MS Office, I don’t see a lot of Japanese culture. Just a lot of katakanized English lol.

Ultimately she talks a lot of fluff without anything concrete because that’s easy to do, but when asked directly about what to do about building more mosques, silence….

So, not respecting traffic lights on bicycle, abandoning broken umbrella during heavy rain and high winds, fake sleeping while sitting in priority seats, parking anywhere with the hazard lights on (bonus 和ポイント if parking on bicycle lanes), abandoning futons/appliances in vacant lots, littering, yelling at the cashier BECAUSE YOU ARE THE CUSTOMER!. One point for each cultural item. How well did you integrate?

  5. Protect Japanese culture – you all get low salaries! Low salary for you . . . low salary for you . . . . low salary for you . . .

This is the real friction between multi-culturalism vs assimilation bothered lots of democratic countries. That’s behind just not being racist.

  7. Actually the core of harmony in Japan is the populace accepting their severe economic exploitation under their hypercapitalist system without fighting back. This is literally the only thing maintaining harmony in Japan. The system is already cracking at the edges. Economic impovrishment materialises through increased crime, racism and life unsatisfactoriness. The Japanese need a genuine, worker-led and worker-focused overhall of the economy and society. Until this happens, Japan will continue to degrade and wither into more profound moral and social decay. This includes greater right wing populism, chauvanism, racism, poverty, degrading health and life expectancy, greater mental illness etc etc. And right wing politicians like Onada and the corporations she bends over for will be the ones to hammer the final nails into Japan’s coffin.

  8. Said by a 50/50 mixed woman. Something tells me she’s trying really hard to embrace one side rather than balancing.

I sometimes wonder what exactly is the Japanese culture they want to return to. Cultures shift and change through influence over generations, there is no such thing as a culture that wasn’t influenced by another. There is no unified culture either, just unified aesthetics. And those aesthetics often find themselves taken from many other places.

The enforcement of a „superior culture“ will always end up flat on its face because it all boils down to racism and the policing of freedoms.

I wonder what kind of people are complaining here? Are they gaijins living in Japan?

The core of Japan’s so-called „harmony“ is saying „yes, master“ when your superiors abuse you.

Also claiming Japan is 共生社会 is fucking hilarious. The Labor Ministry’s definition of 共生社会 is a society that does not discriminate and respects individuality.

At this point „Coexistence Minister“ is some double-speak type shit straight out of 1984.
