This reminds me of years ago when I received my universal refrigeration license guys were getting scrutinized being required to buy thousands upon thousands of dollars worth of safety and recovery equipment. Having their shops and vehicles randomly checked by the EPA. All while the Tropicana factory represents some crazy number I forget what it was but it was over 90% of all unrecovered refrigerant loss in the entire country. But apparently they have an exemption while random HVAC mechanics and automobile mechanics are heavily scrutinized apparently gigantic factories are allowed to just leave massive leaks venting into the atmosphere with zero repercussion or requirement to repair or remediate. So basically their leaks never get fixed unless they decide the cost of adding new refrigerant is high enough to warrant the repair

“Billionaires getting richer & impunity from pdophelia , murder and rape, while the poor getting poorer “ what Trump response “ blame the immigrants blame who’s on Obama care”

I can’t afford beef, a smart thermostat, plane tickets, a car or daily bus fair. I can’t save the planet from greenhouse gas. Guess we’ll all die then 🤷

  4. Eat less meat so that your protein and testosterone levels plummet. Give up your car’s so that you are dependent on the system to get around and can lose that ability they want you to. Use that smart thermostat so they can shut your heat off in the winter if they choose to. Of you this is all speculation. Allegedly….

If the Pacific Palisades fire were the only wild fire to have ever burned in sunny California, wild fires as a category would still have produced many orders of magnitude the carbon release into the environment in California than has ever been saved by all climate initiatives combined. Including the train from here to right over there.

Why isn’t CNN reporting on Lebannon? CNN what can YOU do about a genocide????

  7. It’s true that corporations are responsible for those emissions in some senses, but they create those emissions by catering to their customers‘ needs.

Establishing a culture and community of being environmentally friendly isn’t a bad thing, the problem is that these corporations have no soul and are not part of any community but Wall Street.

So I see this sometimes framed as an excuse to not give a fuck about the environment. This I have a problem with

But I’m not saying OP is framing it that way. I’m speaking generally, just to be clear

This is a 7 year old tweet.

The climate change deniers are running the government now and we aren’t being asked to give this stuff up voluntarily. Instead, we are being forcefully priced out of it all, so maybe we should worry about our current dystopian reality instead of ancient CNN tweets

  10. A simple thing, but: annoys the hell out of me that supermarkets have all the veg and fruit wrapped in plastic bags in quantities that I don’t want. But I’m blamed for the plastic.

The War in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Iran plus Israel bombing countries for 10+ years might not help

  12. Climate change is a hoax anyway. You lose as soon as you entertain their ideas. They CAN control the weather as Iran proved last month.

  13. For real. I’m from the town who is about to run out of water and assure you, it is not because of us individuals squandered water, it’s the fucking oil and gas refineries and the new Tesla plant. All of which has drained and contue to drain our lakes and aquifers.

I got it everyone…maybe if we just pay more taxes, we can end climate change!

  15. I can’t drink out of a plastic straw in ontario but our premiere just bought a jet.

  16. How much do cruises contribute and farms? Not to mention farms charge soo much for meat now then let it rot on the shelf

When I tell people about this unbelievable scam they refuse to believe they’re being scammed. It’s like there’s a mass yet exclusive cognitive dissonance party going on.

  18. I’m in the „it’s mostly b.s. to further their control over us“ crowd. But, even if it were like we are being told, why do people use the „it’s the corporations fault“ line? Corporations serve their consumer. So, whatever they are being blamed for, really comes back on us.

  19. I remember when stores here in Australia banned free plastic bags (for environmental reasons), then a few months later brought in paper and thick plastic bags that you have to pay for (profits go to the environment obv /s).

Those corporations exist to sell you products that you buy. Like meat and flights.

I don’t even give a damn about climate change, but how are yall this stupid? They are advocating for soft boycotts of the corporations!

  21. wawaweewahwe on

It was never about the climate and everything about control. They hide behind moral causes to push tyranny.

One day of burning oil facilities and war probably wipes out ten years of go green bs. Poor people add about as much as cows…a few farts. Dunno about you fine folks but I haven’t fueled up my private jet in forever! Or ever. Yeah we’re the problem. How can we better help ai? When they figure out human battery matrix ideas…become a battery! $20 an hr!

  23. Yeah, you and your entire circle of friends & family and *their* extended circle could all commit to a more ”eco friendly” lifestyle, become vegans, take the bus, ride a bike, etc etc.. and you would change absolutely nothing.

  24. This is just 2 sides pointing at each other. Neither is wrong here. CNN is right that if us little fellas cut meat consumption *by any amount* (like, even 1 less meat meal a week will help) that it would mean less factory farming and other environmentally destructive farming practises, which in turn would help the environment by forcing businesses to adapt. Cars have a very limited amount of people space compared to planes and trains, planes are incredibly environmentally unfriendly. Now sure, if every rich person with a private plane stopped using their plane it’d be great, but the amount of planes that would be out of the sky is a miniscule drop in the ocean compared to if us little folk stopped using planes.

Smart thermo, bleh. On it’s own these things aren’t very smart and aren’t energy efficient compared to analoguing your power use. But it can help you know when something is using power when it shouldn’t.

And on the other side, go look into what those 100 corporations are. They are ones that deliver commercial goods and services in some fashion. As a result the whole chain that interacts with that holds responsibility. It’s not exactly fair to blame 100 corporations when each one of them is being used by probably thousands of corporations, which in turn are then also being used by 10s of thousands more and so on and so on till you get down to you ordering McDs on ubereats and you suddenly realise you’re a part of that chain. The whole chain is the problem. Businesses are doing what businesses do, and since government (and most often righty gov) refuse to regulate businesses, it’s on us people to show them we want different by choosing to lower our consumption in ways that are available to us, like for example, reducing our meat intake by 30% or using the train where possible and so on, and also voting for politicaions willing to stand on a platform that regulates businesses.

The reality is people just want to point their finger at a villain in the story so they don’t have to accept responsibility for the role they play in it all. And while everyone is pointing fingers at each other no one is doing anything to fix it and things are getting worse. If us lot change our habits, that will be reflected in businesses as they will need to adapt, it will also be reflected in politicians as well as they want our votes. But someone needs to take the first step, and waiting for businesses to take a less profit focused approach or for politicians to change regulations is silly when we ourselves aren’t also making the same steps. We want someone else to fix the issue and to sacrifice their life style for us while not sacrificing anything ourselves? That’s just going to result in what we have now, no one doing anything.

  25. Hopefully this gets regularly reposted incase anybody is still burdened with the delusion that they are personally ruining the environment.

I understand that some people want to feel like they are saving the planet by simply eating 30% less meat or riding the bus, but harassing our legislators to not allow polluting corporations carte blanche would be far more effective and they would still get to eat steaks.
