Also, for the „we need the ballroom“ crowd, Trump hosts events at Mar a Lago all the fucking time.

This author is assuming competence in the face of years of demonstrated incompetence.

„This has to be real because no staged attempt would be so stupid.“  Have you been paying any attention at all?

  3. 4n0nym0u5one on

The Fascists are attacking Teachers on X today, coordinated; they’re literally trying to collapse the system into stupidity. It is honestly gross and sickening.

  4. Rough_Common6857 on

Here’s what I dont get. Was the gunman shooting or security? And if it was security, how did they not „neutralize“ him at such close range?

    *edit*

I see them now. But still, how is he not 💀 with all those people shooting at him?

  5. If this was staged I doubt the agents on the floor would know anything about it so they would have acted like you expect them to. Heck, Trump wouldn’t even need to know it was staged. This entire article just seems really silly.

„No stunt would be so sloppy, amateurish, and chaotic.“

Sloppy, amateurish and chaotic are three words that very much describe the Trump administration.

Occam’s razor tells us that the desperate game show host with cabinet members associated with WWE could and would stage a shooting.

“Every lie we tell incurs a debt to the truth. Sooner or later, that debt is paid… I would fear the cost of truth, now I only ask: What is the cost of lies?“

Trump, and his yes men, have created a culture so imbued with obvious falsehoods that the general public has lost the ability to trust their government, even in the most basic of issues. This is the start of a cascade of events that will snowball into bigger and bigger issues. The Nazis had it wrong. Its not repeating a lie enough that makes it true. But repeating a lie enough causes you to lose sight of what’s real and false. It distorts our reality until everything is false and nothing is ever true. As a Chernobyl taught us, there is always a physical cost for our lies.

    >No stunt would be so sloppy, amateurish, and chaotic. No stunt would leave Trump and those around him looking weak, old, and—some of them—terrified. No stunt orchestrated by Trump insiders would end in backbiting and recrimination inside his inner circle.

We must have been watching different administrations, because this seems the norm for them.

  10. It could be that he lies about EVERYTHING! Maybe I’m the only one who notices that he is incapable of the truth. /s

So several days prior White House aides had reportedly leaked that they were planning a „Mic‘ Drop“ moment for the Correspondents Dinner, so Trump could leave early. Add in the „Shots will be fired“ comment hours prior. Then the fiasco it self and it’s follow up foolishness.

  12. GreatGojira on

It’s hard to believe it when you have a guy with a shotgun show up, and you see some old guy eating his dinner in the video. Doesn’t give a damn about anything.

It’s so satisfying seeing them all get frustrated that we won’t blame ourselves and feel sorry.

MAGA has made their bed with conspiracy theories designed to avoid responsibility. They try to claim democrats were responsible for January 6th and refuse to admit Vance Boelter (who had a list of democrats to kill but got caught after targeting two of them and their spouses) was a Trump Supporter killing lawmakers because they were democrats.

Why? They don’t want this treatment back that they’re trying to dish out now.

They think they can point their fingers and place blame, and then escape every bit of blame when someone on their side does something.

Frustrating when we dish it back, isn’t it? Lmao we will not be taking blame, not sorry.

Trump is the one radicalizing people against him. This is Trump’s fault.

MAGA needs to accept that and get over it.

  14. Ill_Neighborhood_131 on

He wants the ballroom because it’s a military bunker to hide behind when we come for him.

  15. Bionic_Ninjas on

So their one point in favor of this not being staged is that „the Trump administration is too competent to do it this badly“? Where the fuck has this guy been the last ten years?

  16. Signal_Minimum8509 on

In the never ending debate of, “is the Trump administration stupid or evil,” the answer is both.

    Always both.

  17. tituspeetus on

It could also be that they’re so sloppy that even when it’s staged they still can’t make themselves look cool. May be a stretch though

  18. elementzn30 on

Even if the shooting was real, the fact that no one believes it is divine retribution for the most dishonest administration in history.

No one would be accusing this of being a hoax if we could ever trust literally a single word out of this administration’s mouth

  19. Fermi_DOX75 on

„On the stage, television footage shows the awkward removal of Trump, a 79-year-old man. If this was a stunt he masterminded, why would he want to look old, stumbling and weak?“

Ummmm because he’s old, stumbling and weak? He doesn’t have a choice.

  20. Personal_Spend_2535 on

I don’t think it was staged, but i think it’s more like they knew of a credible threat and then they reduced security in certain places so it could happen.

  21. TemperatureGood5019 on

Was this written by the guy who calmly ate his dinner while everyone was panicking?

  22. ManderlyDreaming on

So wait, he thinks that because not EVERYONE THERE was in on this stunt, that some of the attendees were legitimately afraid, that means it wasn’t a stunt? Okay Jan.

  23. I don’t honestly believe the attack was fake, but I think it’s hilarious that DJT has so little trust that it’s more believable that it was fake

    > „No stunt would be so sloppy, amateurish, and chaotic.“

Where the FUCK have you been for this President’s existence? The list of sloppy, amateurish and chaotic stunts this administration has pulled can fill more than a dozen Wikipedia articles. In fact: THEY HAVE.

  25. Staged and knowing something might happen ahead of time and being prepared to not let it get out of hand are different. I have always thought that they don’t really stage it but are aware, let it happen to a degree, and then prevent anything from really happening.

    >Allen had slept in the next room to me the night before. He had allegedly brought his shotgun, handgun, and knives into the hotel unchecked. He wrote his manifesto on the other side of the wall from me in his room, 10237.

The writer answered a lot of their own questions. How could a guy get into the same building as the president with all those weapons and no one notice? Doesn’t the secret service secure the whole building the president is in and vet everyone that is going to be in the building?

  26. They should call this sub “Paywalled articles with hundreds of people commenting on the headline”

  27. DrGoblinator on

He doesn’t give a fuck about the ballroom, he gives a fuck about the bunker

  28. Onemandrinkinggamess on

Isn’t the call room not even gonna be done til 2029 or something? So if he wants it so bad that says to me he’s not planning on leaving.

Or as others have suggested it’s just a grift to get donations from suckers he’s made a living scamming.

  29. Does killing Iran’s supreme leader in a surprise attack qualify as ‚political violence‘?

  30. therealdavidwiley on

The shooting was staged so that they can accuse anyone talking about the Epstein files of „inciting violence“.

  31. anhonestpuck13 on

I’ve seen a lot of people saying to pump the brakes on assuming the assassination was staged because if we make data-less assumptions we’re no better than MAGA and the entire right wing with their reactionary nonsense. I think those people need to understand that there’s tons of context for this that isn’t there in right wing conspiracy thinking.

    * The Trump administration has a predisposition for showy, poorly thought out spectacles.
    * Trump and all of his cronies demonstrably have no respect for the truth. Blatant narrative manipulation is their lifeblood.
    * Trump has MAJOR incentive to make a desperate move like this.
    * The circumstances are incredibly suspect. A gunman made his way inside only to actually harm no one AND be bloodlessly apprehended? Americans have seen WAY too many shootings to think such a thing is even remotely likely.
    * The very unconvincing-ness of the thing is part of what makes it seem fabricated. Everything the Trump administration does is shoddy and executed by incompetents, so the shoddiness and incompetence here reeks of their signature touch.

We don’t have to say with absolute certainty that this was staged, but it’s VERY reasonable to say that that’s a distinct possibility and even likely.

  32. I dont think it was staged, I just know they’ve gutted all our institutions so we have no manpower for the secret service and fired all our DOJ members. So they can’t properly protect.

He’s just being opportunistic about the event for the ballroom shit.

  33. FartyFartsMD on

Another distraction from the Trumpstein files. Trump rapes kids and should be thrown in prison!

  34. Positive_Smile_9510 on

I am convinced there is a mixed reality here: The assassin was real and they also knew he was there. A poorly planned assassination attempt could be contained without collateral damage. It could also be exploited for the ballroom and as a distraction.

How many fish are usually caught in the surveillance net? Probably a lot. Letting one slip through on purpose is absolutely on brand.

  35. When JD Vance visited my state they blocked off every single road near the Airport while he was leaving. We ended up sitting in a police blockade waiting half an hour prevented from continuing on our road.

I say this to highlight the drastic lengths they take involving security when it relates to the VP. We are not even talking about the President.

So not searching bags or checking ID is extraordinarily odd.

  36. HughFairgrove on

Sorry not buying it. Just like Butler yes an attempt can be true and at the same time it can be staged. Those are not mutually exclusive. The shooters don’t have to be aware they are being used as props, but when the other side knows about it or that it’s going to happen, then it was orchestrated.

  37. CurlOfTheBurl11 on

„No stunt would be so sloppy, amateurish, and chaotic. “

Buddy have you *seen* this administration? It is defined by those very descriptors.
