Pros – drunk driving is bad

    Cons – everything else imaginable.

Luckily for me, I will never own a vehicle new enough for this to matter.

  2. Pros – in theory it will make the roads safer by stopping irresponsible people from operating a high speed steel projectile in public spaces.

Cons – it will be used to restrict movement and maintain control for the elites. Say something bad about Elon Musk? Car says you’re drunk. Bash the Zuck? You’re too distracted to drive according the AI. Protest planned? Disable all the cars in the area with an “outage” so it’s difficult to attend. Express an opinion to vote for the opposition party? Car says you’re drunk and won’t let you drive to the polls.

If there is a manual override then fine. But then it defeats the purpose because someone intoxicated or wanting to drive distracted or tired will just manually override and continue on.

This could be apply to new Tesla owners so it would take a lot of time for this to reach most people

  4. Accidents and massive lawsuits will probably end it pretty quickly once the insurance companies have to start paying out because „Sober Steve moved wrong in his seat and caused the AI to lock down his car at 75mph, causing a pile-up that killed 100 people during rush hour.“

Oh man if you’re concerned about the government just wait until you learn that almost every single OEM has both in house financing and in house insurance.

This is absolutely not going to stop at just police and governemnt preventing you from driving this is going to really head distopian really quickly.

You may ask yourself why does any of what i mentioned matter at all…

Oh you want to finance a vehicle, guess who now has access to your driving habits and little things you may or may not do right… That right the OEM, that you financed your vehicle from and sure i know the readers here are going to tell me „well good thing i have a car and won’t buy one of these…“ that doesn’t matter when the entire rest of the country is just going to do it becasue they basically have to. That monthly payment just went up because they decided you drive more at night and look more tired or ford pattented utilizing internal cameras and internal sensors (weight and cameras) for this exact thing and then send said data to LEO.

If they can’t get you there… Oh your insurance done through them or whoever cause i’m positive this data isn’t going to just be for the OEM… „oh you went to mcdonalds 3 times this week you little piggy, your bmi has been raised by 1% indicating you’re a larger risk to us. Your rates will now go up to reflect this new risk.“

My concern with this is much more to how this will be used to basically make owning a car a luxury and not a right. All of this before we have any kind of decent safety net for people who will not use a car, like actual public transportation. If it were all internal i would be somewhat okay with this however look into fords pattent on using cameras and sensors to ticket drivers… It will absolutely not live locally.

This is NOT good and as always the real motive is being hidden behind „save the children“. This isn’t even a conspiracy look up what ford pattented again YEARS ago for the cameras inside and outside of your car, look at their org as a whole and tell me that will only be used for LEO and totally not used with their inhouse financing / insurance. Why else would they patent all of this information using an on board sim to send out datta that it is constantly uploading. On top of all of this, it furthers the agenda to renting a car over ownership as they will also use this to „incentivise“ you to rent over owning because they have all your data so a shared vehicle if something does go wrong they can easily point to who it was.

Edit: Here is what Ford has been kicking up for patents.

[https://keywestford.com/enhanced-security-ahead-ford-patents-camera-tampering-detection-for-future-vehicles/](https://keywestford.com/enhanced-security-ahead-ford-patents-camera-tampering-detection-for-future-vehicles/) – This is to prevent messing with cameras, which sure on the surface again sounds like protecting you… but how do we know it won’t be used when you say opt out of this…

[https://www.carscoops.com/2024/07/ford-seeking-to-patent-camera-system-that-snitches-on-speeders/](https://www.carscoops.com/2024/07/ford-seeking-to-patent-camera-system-that-snitches-on-speeders/) this article talks about how ford is going to use both its internal and external cameras for LEO.

This is the actual patent for using the camera system and lidar on mounted to police vehicles to just basically make them into rolling speed cameras. What they do with said data with ford and LEO is yet to be seen. They also claim this won’t make it’s way to consumer vehicles, but i suspect that is more of an issue with cost than out of the kindness of their own hearts…

No thanks, I can picture an interstate full of inoperable vehicles because of a computer virus.

My deep end theory is that they’re mapping out our entire reality to govern and market as much as possible.

Self driving cars were something I was always excited about but now all I can think is any asshole with a few bucks and an internet connection could potentially pull one of my loved ones car over and shut it off? Fuck no

  9. december151791 on

Well, I guess my next and last vehicle is getting sold to somebody else this year.

  10. I had a thought. What if „they“ (i dont know who, reptile people?) are looking for one specific indivodual. The mass survilience is the means to find this one specific person that is somehow important.

No wonder so much distrust was put in the education system and demonization of intellectuals… Books have been warning us for so long, but too many people refuse to actually read them or develop empathy past 10 feet in front of them.

    Sad.

  12. Even more reason to keep driving older vehicles, my current daily is almost 30 years old.

  13. Kinky_No_Bit on

The only positive I can see about this is when people start hacking their cards to jailbreak it. Imagine how useful that is gonna be for theft if people break in your car, or for just insurance purposes. For years, they should have made cameras mandatory in cars that people could actually use for accidents. Now they are just mandating it for a b/s excute, but jailbreak it, and now you can have your own portable NVR on wheels.

The real agenda behind AI is to merge with the human brain to make it easier for the fungi to communicate between hosts and take control of our species, this is just a happy secondary use in the meantime.

  15. What if the AI says you cant drive because you are stoned but you are just Chinese?

Let’s put one government camera in everyone’s house to prevent domestic violence.

  17. star_particles on

I keep saying this. Why is the government getting involved in it??? What does the government do??

If this was all about moving forward with society for the benefit of humanity it would be left to anyone BUT the government… at least some of us see it.

Please try posting in local groups to you and warning about the risk of flock cameras. That’s what I’ve been doing a bit but because where I live it’s useless.

  18. Technology is like an hourglass filled with humanity. It’s just draining one thing after another, making its moves, the sand keeps draining. 40 and going nature as possible, rest of it drives me mad now.

My 2025 starlink Subaru beeps loudly at me if the suns in my eyes and I’m squinting and also if I’m wearing polarized sunglasses that don’t show my pupils. So now it’s going to shut off?

  20. Then email your car insurance company’s AI support that will immediately raise your premiums

  21. This was in a scifi story. Protagonist is driven to the police station by his car.

  22. Academic-Living-8476 on

If you buy that car, just always be drunk driving it and it can never tell when you are drunk!

(Joking I don’t condone drinking and driving)

  23. They’ve been kicking this around for years apparently. It’ll pass eventually somehow, but I don’t think in 2027

  24. 3rdEyeDecryptor on

The real reason for the governments Cash for Clunkers program from 17 years ago was to get perfectly good used cars off the secondary market to pave the way for this. It had nothing to do with global warming.

Strange how the global warming alarmists are silent on these massive data centers which are horrible for the environment.

  25. One of the only weapons we have left in the struggle against tyranny is anonymity, and they are absolutely frantic about it and attacking it from every angle they can. The mass construction of gigantic data centers and Palantir and AI to store, catalog, analyze and target information and individuals that conflict with the state’s narratives and propaganda are part of it, but these balls have been rolling for a while.

Over the past year, with the failure to suppress things which in the past, before the old media lost its stranglehold on the control of approved narratives, would have been swept under the rug, or smothered with labels like „conspiracy theory“, or „anti-semetic“, like Epstein and the heavy involvement of the elite in absolutely heinous crimes like human trafficking and worse, and the failure to smother Israel’s crimes and aggressive war waging against the palestinians, lebanon and Iran, and the insidious nature of AIPAC in the American legislature, they are getting absolutely frantic. Most notably the whole „age verification“ ruse that is currently being pushed as a poorly veiled attack on anonymity in general… man, things are just going to get ugly.

  26. pros:

    – huge W for public transportation

    cons:

    – our privacy rights vanish
    – AI is wrong all the fucking time
    – people who are stressed out, emotional, sleep deprived, or even show unmasked mental illness won’t be able to start their cars, meanwhile the so-called „high functioning“ drunks will be flying down the road without a problem
    – if your car decides that your soda can looks a little too much like a beer can, you’ll be stranded at work for the rest of the night
    – if you swerve to avoid a pothole or debris in the road, your car could forcefully pull you over and prevent you from going any further due to „impaired driving“
    – if you pick up alcohol from the store to bring to an event, your car might assume that you already drank it and aren’t fit to drive
    – alternatively as you leave the event you brought said alcohol to, it could assume that you drank enough to be intoxicated, regardless of how much you had, if any at all

  27. Yea please fight data centers coming to your county. Exit the technocratic state

  28. All of you saying we should just buy and maintain older cars are delusional. We need to fight this. They will find ways to strong-arm people.

I was just shopping around for car insurance and everywhere I looked, they had some version of a „safe driving app“ connected to a „discount.“ I am now paying more to not be constantly monitored by my insurance company every time I drive. Not that that really matters with all the flock cameras and police automatically scanning your license plate for no fucking reason. I don’t want to keep living like this. It doesn’t matter that I’m not doing anything wrong, I just don’t want to be babysat by the government every waking moment of my life. It’s oppressive.
