Wait. Is this recent? Like they overturned the foolish appeal?

Edit: One of several legal challenges. Process isn’t over.

The RNC continues to bitch on high like a toddler about „Lawfare“ because every accusation is merely a projection.

Somewhere a Florida MAGA voter making $25k/year just fell to their knees in a Winn-Dixie.

What was the point in having the whole state come out to vote? If it was illegal it should never have been able to be voted on.

  7. I would assume that voter-approved changes would be harder to overturn than hastily rushed midnight bills. Which are usually so riddled with issues because of the haste that they’re often overturned.

It’s almost like respecting your constituents is a pretty sold way to run a government.

That being said, we need to ban gerrymandering. Democrats keep trying. Republicans keep blocking.

“Many a tradition and law has been laid down in the advancement of a national quest for political power, and the winds that will blow cannot yet be known. Nonetheless, this Court knows its role is clear. It is not to assess the wisdom of public policy nor to engage in policy making from the bench,” Judge Tracy Thorne-Begland wrote in his order. “Instead, it is to decide if those with whom we have entrusted power have exercised that power in conformance with their constitutional mandate. On this question, the Court’s answer is in the affirmative.”

Yay a 51/49 ballot result will yield a 91/9 congressional representation. They should’ve just made it 100/0, why even give the western part of the state 1 non-gerrymandered rep when the powers-at-be hate everyone outside of Fairfax/Loundon/Arlington counties

  10. Trump always acts as if his opponents can’t counter his political games with obvious counter moves.

  11. This will still go to the state Supreme Court. I’m optimistic the Virginia Supreme Court will find in favor of the Yes vote. They haven’t overturned an amendment since a referendum broke the 1957 Civil Rights Act back in the late 1950s.

Let us see what Trump does about this, I imagine not much at all. Because as always….TACO.

  13. It’s going to be hard to overturn.

SCOTUS has said political gerrymandering is legal. Voters voted on it. Outside some legal 180s, it is on pretty solid legal footing.

I mean, yay! But are we really on our way to court-sanctioned gerrymandering? Help me out here..

The RNC really tried to argue that the *legislative* branch didn’t have the authority to introduce a *constitutional amendment*…
