      >Sorry
      >
      >I didn’t know you hated it this much
      >
      >It’s like when we decided on Walwal as the fandom name, because you were all so lovely, we loved it but we didn’t know for a while how you were disappointed. I wasn’t aware you hated it this much. I should’ve paid more attention and looked into it… I think I didn’t do enough, I’m sorry
      >
      >I think I got carried away, we just wanted it so that anyone would be able to freely purchase the lightstick without there being any extra benefits, so we’d decorate the stage more beautifully and it looked like we’d be unified
      >
      >When me and Yechan-hyung first debuted, we would watch other groups perform and saw the visual spectacle, how fans and artists would merge into one. It just looked so cool
      >
      >So it’s been a dream of mine for a long time

      >(But not anymore! It’s okay! If you don’t like it, we also don’t like it!)
      >
      >We don’t think of ourselves as idols, we’re too lacking in many things.
      >
      >But we wanted to show off our coolest side just like idols and approach things seriously with the same level of carefulness.

      >That’s what we were trying, but (thinking we were idols) wasn’t why I wanted to make a lightstick

Why did their lightstick get canceled? Was it in a controversial shape?

    3. After hearing the story behind the group’s name I find this kind of sad. They got the name Lucy from a dog they used to play with and loves.

I assume they were kind of doing a puppy theme with the walwal fandom name and a bone for the lightstick. This to me is just so cute!

    4. As a walwal the „backlash“ was ridiculous 😭 like fine don’t have anything then, jeez

    5. I wonder what the backlash would have been if Mamamoo had announced their lightstick today instead of 2015.

    6. curious about Wonsang mentioning in his letter that they don’t see themselves as idols – is there this much anti-idol sentiment among LUCY fans?

    7. That is so sad, it was an odd yet cute design! my only concern was how fans were gonna hold it – sad other people took offense or whatever

    8. Puzzleheaded-Baby998 on

I totally can see why fans don’t like it. The agency would have been smart to involve fans in the process by offering suggestions to vote for, it’s more time labouring but saves a lot of blowback.

Hopefully they didn’t invest anything in production yet.

    9. I could see that as a light stick sold at their concerts with merch but not the official.

Edit: the random downvoting, to be clear I didn’t say it was bad or that I agree 🤷‍♀️ it’s not that serious guys

    10. Amazing_Rub_1437 on

Everyday the kpop fandom finds a way to disappoint me, not only was it a cool design but that apology letter is just sad. Forcing an artist you like to apologize for something they were so excited to share with you might be one of the the worst feelings for them

    11. I’m so sad and pissed they canceled it. Lucy is my ult group and I’ve been dying for a lightstick since their debut. The design was so unique to the group and not a basic dome. I thought it was super cute and silly and perfectly reflected the group and now I’m just mad I won’t get it

    12. Etheria_system on

Jesus this is so ridiculous. People wonder why groups just bring out the same basic circle on a stick and it’s because fans refuse to have fun

    13. FinchMandala on

I’m not a fan of the group and am indifferent to the lightstick but do people not know they can choose _not_ to buy it?

Like… people need to calm down. And for Lucy to apologise over it? What the fuck.

    14. Little-Glee on

It’s okay for them to change the lightstick if people don’t like it, but I don’t really see the need for an apology.

    15. foundintransl8ion on

The fandom felt like they were calling the fans dogs because the lightstick was designed to be worn as a necklace. It felt degrading.

    16. Is this what it’s like being god’s least favorite… one of my favorite groups drops a lightstick design that is cute and unique and funny and it’s immediately shut down by the fandom… pain…..

    17. dannybrickwell on

„A lightsrick would ruin the concert experience“ is dead ass the most pretentious thing I’ve ever heard come out of a kpop fandom wtf get a grip lmao

    18. sajatheprince on

I don’t know their group but saw the lightstick post and thought it was actually an innovative change in design.

    19. New_Practice9754 on

I understand that Mystic has failed in providing a lot of actual fan-wants and how most K-fans have been against the lightstick in general, but simultaneously there were better ways for fans to handle this and push for other shit and not just the lightstick. I’ve also been seeing k-fans explicitly against the dog bone design specifically, literally just saw someone propose an AI generated design on my timeline. Good grief and THIS is what get’s Lucy engagement now 🫩🫩

    20. halfdecentbanana on

Crazy idol fanbase reaction from a fan base that doesn’t consider their faves idols.

    21. I thought the design was cute especially when someone in the announcement post said you’d feel like Cubone lol but I do understand the friction it caused.

If companies expect the fans to constantly give them money they should give them products they want to buy. if the fandom didn’t have as many outstanding complaints this probably wouldn’t have blown up.
