    1. And why? The article doesn’t give any answers, nor it explicitly states who these people are – just ‚members from institutes‘.

Could you imagine if the west had scientists in top positions, instead of, say, a television personality?

CCP officials move up by performing well in their positions. They’re graded. So if they’re “leading”… draw your conclusions.

Your political career isn’t only voter popularity based, it is results dependant, if you perform well, give results or contribute significantly to the nation wellbeing, you will make your way into a leading position if you want to.

It is not as common because a lot of nations select their leaders in what could be compared to a school popularity contest.

    5. When Mao was in charge intellectuals got executed, crazy how times change. I have to say that the one party system does seem effective. It also worked well for Mexico for a time although they’ve transitioned to Democracy. I guess the real question is what happens when President Xi dies?

I wonder if chinese media runs similar articles for america:

„Why criminal serial rapists are rising to the top of republican party“

Who’d have thought meritocracy would be thriving in supposedly-communist China.
America and its industry/thought leaders have to be the worst in existence currently. The West has completely ground to a halt.

Bruh they are turning into a meritocracy over there while we rocket the other direction to make a select few rich(er). We’re cooked. And we voted for it.

    9. Interesting that American presidents and top officials had a long history of being Lawyers by trade.

While China’s top officials are engineers and scientists.

Technocracy can also go wrong, all extremes are wrong. Look at the tech bros and what they are doing to society.

That’s not a good example tbh. A totalitarian aristocracy is the worst kind of dictatorship anyone wants to be in.

    12. America got complacent. So many military bases surrounding China while the media is full on blasting that China would take over the world. China is literally fighting for survival. Any wrong move and the current government will capitulate. They rather the smartest and brightest be authoritarian than fanatics voting in a celebrity leader.

Ironically it’s America who put China in this position. China either succeed or burn.

I’ll be keeping tabs on this site… it used to be less political. Now it is seemingly entirely political… I already have subs for political discussion.

    14. one of the main architects of china’s one child policy is an aerospace engineer. not everything in this world maths

So is Reddit just the glazing china website now? Did all of the communist lovers decide Reddit was their new home?

The US has become a case study in how to dismantle a global power. May we be a lesson for future generations.

Also the shadow puppeteers in Isreal and Russia using child sex trafficking blackmail and false flag social media manipulation to elevate a person so rich, yet so dumb few could believe that he’s just a simpleton, is a good „how NOT to“ succeed as a nation

A friend of mine told me that China is run by engineers while America is run by lawyers and I think that tracks.

Feel like this is partly due to cultural reasons as China have a history of having public officials take exams and prove their intellect before taking public office.

We are in the 21st century. Technology permeates our bodies and minds. So have people who understands science for once makes a whole lot of sense!!

China is so far ahead of us in everything it’s not even funny. I have a family member in a high position in big pharma and they tell me the US is holding on by a thread. China is destroying the US when it comes to education, medicine, and most tech. The only thing that’s holding them back is advancements in defense, but AI will even that playing field.

Engineer here. I love being an engineer. I love my work.

While American leadership does tend to be stupid as fuck for various reasons, you can also have stupid as fuck engineers who have no business in leadership.

China’s disastrous one child policy? An aerospace engineer created that policy. He projected China would hit 4 Billion people- because he had fuck knowledge about population demographics.

Also let’s not pretend like Silicon valley is some paragon of high level thinking. The DOGE bros were all „engineers“

China is a country ran by engineers, America is country ran by lawyers.
