  1. Apparently Poilievre is just pushing delusion then. I really don’t understand how this guy can’t manage to read the room for one but also to accurately read the reality of the world. The US is not our friend right now. The US is no one’s friend. The US is very, very broken and they’re as likely to sanction us as they are to respect CUSMA or to negotiate in good faith. I seriously hope this guy never becomes PM because he’s embarrassingly incompetent

  2. >Poilievre argued the government has failed to show progress on the pace of home building, accelerating major projects and advancing trade negotiations with the U.S.

Carney is not the politician who is actively opposing any *current* federal projects. Unlike Poilievre, who has been vocally opposed to high speed rail.

    >“The Trump era will end. I think that what we are seeing is an opportunity to build new trade relationships around the world, and we’re doing that, but I still see a long, prosperous future ahead of us with our relationship with the United States.“

Trump will eventually no longer be an active political participant, but Trump’s influence on the USA will be felt for generations to come. They never recovered from the influence of Nixon or Reagan, and likely never will.

The framework for success that he has built for the GOP isn’t a new one, it’s a tried, tested and refined political movement that has its roots in the eras of those aforementioned presidents. It will not go away any time soon.

But aren’t we suppossed to be afraid of trans kids and homeless people though?

We should probably just ignore the military super power threatening to annex us though, anything else is just LIBERAL HYSTERIA.

WON’T SOMEONE THINK OF PIERRE’S POLLING NUMBERS.

This is the „nostalgia as a strategy“ that Carney has been talking about where people like PP desperately want to pretend as though it’s possible to go back to how things were pre-2025.

The reality is there are two options: Canada becomes much, much less reliant on America going forward or Canada becomes a subservient satellite state of America. Don’t know about anyone else, but I know which one I prefer.

  5. All politicians push fear. It’s the first chapter of their play book. “You got problems, and I’m the one who will fix them for you.” This isn’t a Carney thing, it’s universal.

  6. PP has gone from “everything is broken” to “Carney is pushing fear”. Both ends of a very wide spectrum if you think about it. Just kind of indicates that it’s all performance politics with him.

  7. He seems to be listening to only a small group of close supporters who are strongly pro American otherwise I can’t imagine why he would say something so stupid and so detrimental to his party’s electoral prospects.

  8. I don’t understand how do many people seem to think US relations is all or nothing. Being less relient on the US means moving from approx 70% of our trade going south to having 50%-60%.

We will still do the bulk of our trade with the US, just being less relient on them. Why do all the doomers seem to think Carney is going to build a wall and shut down all trade?

You’ve got to hand it to Pierre, it takes a special level of self-assurance to confidently go all-in on the exact same strategy that turned him into the single biggest loser in Canadian political history.

If it was up to PP we would be part of the U.S. by now. He and the rest of the Maple MAGA are so up Trumps ass it’s unreal.

America is definitely working to be on the wrong side of history and Poilievre is still kissing their butts. PP is not a strong person, he is not a leader as much as he is a follower of Trump’s tactics.
