      Well good news for the Philippines. There were several items being eyed for quite some time IIRC (SHORADs and ships).

      It turned out quite interesting for them, first the Japanese company Mitsubishi prepared a contract with Australia and then they lifted this ban. It is probably futile for Ukraine to hope to use that loophole regarding the lifting of the ban on arms sales to a warring party in the event of a threat to Japan’s national security.

      So martial artists will be able to bring their Katana to Japan and/or buy one from there without hassle?

      Japan should not be handicapped by an arms export ban with neighbors: Russia invading Ukraine, China threatening Taiwan, North Korea with nukes, South Korea becoming a global arms exporter, and US becoming less reliable.

      It seemed inevitable, since Japan is developing a sixth gen fighter jet with the UK and Italy, they will need to export it. 

      There’s plans to build Mogami frigates for Australia and sell Abukuma ships to the Philippines already.

      Well i did expect this to eventually happen with Japan building Australian frigates. I did not think it would happen so soon
