      Invade it with what exactly? To gain what, complete ass beating? 99% sure they ain’t gonna invade shit while losing in Ukraine.

      So they would get the Batlic sea fleet ready and loaded up without anyone noticing. Then sail between Estonia and Finland, both Nato countries. Then continue sailing for about a day, while not getting sunk by the combine efforts of the Swedish, Finnish, Polish, German, Danish and Baltic countries air force and navies.

      I think Gotland is pretty safe from Russian attack.

      All Russian military assets are tied up in Ukraine. Maybe they invade with released criminals and mental patients?

      I have for a long time believed that when Russia can’t keep up in Ukraine, they will attack a NATO country as their „exit“ ramp.

      They can then claim to their population that: „See the evil NATOs indeed invaded us, and it was nothing we could do but sue for peace.“

      Some of their leaders might even think it would make NATO stop supporting Ukraine.

      The casus would be something like: We had to protect the native Russian population of, checks notes, Gotland, we had no choice but to attack.

      That is not what he said. What he said was that russia could land on any island within the Baltic sea to test the reaction. There are thousands uninhabitated islands were this could happen.

      What would happen if they landed a few soldiers to a small island? Would they get blow away, would we send a strongly worded letter?

      So they send troops from the enclave of Kalingrad by sea and air to take the island ? Ok, i’m just throwing this out there, but pretty sure that Nato would notice them even starting to load the troops up, and they are totally surrounded. Even crossing the baltic to reach Gotland, they would be fish in a barrel, assuming they were able to do it unopposed, what do they do there ? They are again completely surrounded on an island, in the baltic.

      It would be far more efficient and less cruel to just take those soldiers out to the back of the hangers and shoot them themselves.

      Russia is preparing for mass mobilisation. That is why they block internet all around the country.

      They would be running a gauntlet of naval and air defences in the Baltic as well as being at the whim of NATO’s (and even Sweden’s own) complete air dominance. They are likely to lose Kaliningrad before they set foot on Gotland. So no risk of that happening

      The Swedes could smoke the underbred Russians in a heartbeat by themselves if they invaded Gotland.
