An inability to link policies to consequences is a fatal flaw. Instead of realizing that the path that Canada set upon to increase direct reliance on U.S. trade in the 70’s is exactly why we’re here today (and there have always been plenty of voices of the political stage posting opposing that policy for this very reason), we keep on trying to blame this on Trump as some sort of an aberration and not the popularly-elected president he is. If you want to pin your economic future on the political landscape of another, much larger, country, you have to accept that the consequences will be beyond your control.

Nothing to see here, folks, just a US-owned newspaper site trying to convince Canada to not do anything to find different markets.
