I thought real masculinity was pumping your body full of designer steroids to gain the approval of others.

Look, we should absolutely support women.

The Rock using a challenge of masculinity as a marketing ploy to get people to see a remake of a Disney movie, is a fucking hollow attempt at supporting women. Also, is it not real masculinity to support women who aren’t warriors?

Crazy that he has to say this because he knows a bunch of grown men are going to fling sexist vitriol at a literal children’s movie

  4. GriveousDance21 on

All this to promote a soulless live-action cashgrab of a remake of an animated classic that’s not even 10 years old.

Bravo Dwayne, may the change of hierarchy in the Disney Universe aid you.

Total nonsense. Real masculinity is being a leader, protector, and provider, taking action, and handling business. Supporting others is not part of it, nor is pretending to be someone you’re not. That doesn’t mean if a woman wants to be a warrior you should try to stop her, but supporting her in that is not part of being masculine.

„real masculinity is pumping your hard earned cash at over priced movie theatres to see my dog shit acting“

    Get fucked, Dwayne.

Genuinely can’t wait till he’s out of the spotlight.

Real masculinity isn’t just voicing support for female led movies when you’re in one.

Real masculinity also isn’t going on Faux News talking about „wokeness“.

I haven’t really been paying any attention to this live action Moana abomination- mostly because I sincerely thought the awful screenshot of Dwayne dressed as a dime store Maui was either AI slop or some fan’s take on the idea.

But the fact that this is real? The turnover from animated movie to needless live action remake seems to have zero actual delay anymore.

I understand the original Moana came out a decade ago… but that’s still drastically faster than previous animation to live action abomination.

The original is still perfect. So . . . Why?

  9. Dwayne Johnson doesn’t know what real masculinity is. if he did he wouldn’t have to have clauses in his movie contracts stating that his character can’t lose a fight.

  10. I know he starred in the animated version but I don’t know why they thought it was necessary to cast Dwayne and his stupid wig in the remake. There are plenty of Polynesian men who can actually sing who would have been great as a live action Maui.

I support women. I can’t support a shot-for-shot remake of a modern Disney classic with horrible effects. I’ll rewatch the original.

Read all the comments in here and tell me we don’t live in an era of hyper cynicism and negativity

I don’t understand what everyone is angry about

The irony of a man using women empowerment to sell tickets to a movie.

How about just supporting women in general regardless of whether they are warriors.

Real masculinity is not letting someone else define my own masculinity for me.

DJ will say whatever it needs to sell his movie. Dude cares about nothing but his image & money.

  16. “Watch this movie or your sexist” bro, I liked the original, i really hate Disney live action remakes sorry my dude but no. I’d rather Disney go the opposite route and do 2d remakes. Use the CGI as a prototype to see if ppl like a story and then put in the work to hand animate the movie sketch by sketch if is worth the effort, not make a lazier longer shittier version with less art. But I guess wanting to see movies that don’t feel like cash grabs w bad cgi makes me hate women I guess.

Except he choked a woman for insulting his father at a family wedding some 25 or so years ago. He also cheated on his ex-wife with his current wife. Her friends claim she admitted that he beat her on occasion as well. He also had kinky violent sex back in his younger days which included choking women. He is not the feminist hero people are trying to make him out to be.

Does “supporting warrior women” include equal pay for his co-star

  19. Ok_Literature3138 on

He’s a mega celebrity. His opinion is irrelevant. He doesn’t live an average life. Go start a brand or something. Don’t tell me what a man is.

Whenever we get this type of talk before one of their live action remakes comes out, the movie is always bad.

I really like the OG Moana movie, it’s really good. This live action isn’t necessary, the movie is just about to be 10 years old. I feel like whenever the actors start yappin‘ about politics, morals, or other mannerisms before the movie comes out it just cheapens the whole experience and is usually an indicator that they really don’t or can’t say much about the movie, or that they know the movie probably isn’t good.

  21. That’s great Dwayne, now time to go on Fox News and complain about Joe Biden again

  22. CP_Chronicler on

Good message, but sadly tied to the promotion of a movie, and a bad-looking DisneySlop live-action remake no less.

  23. He just wants his check, which he’ll get more of the more he convinces people they’re helping a woman warrior.
Tell me Rock, are you making more than Moana’s actress for the movie?

If so, he better get to supporting the warrior

  24. jiminycricket1940 on

Live action Moana will make gobs of money; but it will not be due to it being good nor necessary.

  25. Optimal_Whiner on

Meh. I supported and enjoyed the animated ones. I have no interest in this live action movie.
