  1. It’s hilarious to me. I see all these other extremely ethnocentric groups from their own cultures come and try to join the extremely racist groups in America. So for a few years they’re accepted until they’re inevitably thrown away because they don’t understand their own racial dynamic that means they can never be equals.

Tokens get spent. You’re not something special; you’re being played.

No the whole thing was supposed to be whites only.  How did they miss that memo?

So they got redeemed doing the needful?

    > But even as South Asians in the US hold a disproportionate slice of jobs in tech and health care, as well as highly visible roles in the White House, they’re facing a noxious swell of racism online—with much of it seemingly coming from MAGA adherents. **Some tell WIRED the vitriol is making them feel duped by the president and fearful that the hateful rhetoric will become a mainstay for the party.**

Excuse me? Have they been in a coma for the last decade, or…? Because they were not duped, and the hateful rhetoric HAS BEEN a feature of the Republican Party.

  6. hellofmyowncreation on

So to paraphrase: “All the racism seems to be coming from Republican voters. Liberal professors and their woke ideas are the worst racists because of this.” Is that right?

How does anyone say a phrase like this, and not think about how it doesn’t make any fucking sense?

Caste system adherents reap what they sow when trying to bring such racism to a democracy. Tech is fueled by racism and predation they themselves created to enrich themselves. They’re as guilty of destroying the US as any MAGA voter.

  8. Indians still adhere to a caste system in the home country (these values transfer to the states, too), are generally very wealthy here in the states, and are allies with Russia back in their country… they are basically built for MAGA.

This is not meant to be a knock on all Indians, as I’m sure there are outliers, but I know some on each end of the spectrum and am not surprised by the MAGA side being a thing.

  9. It’s all insanity and makes no sense. POC supporting him. Low-income supporting him. Military supporting him. Even non-Americans supporting him. Meanwhile, neither he or the majority of his base care about them.

  10. I wonder how many of the MAGA Indians are descendants of the Brahmin caste and can’t wrap their minds around the fact that they’re seen as undesirable no matter how they vote or how much money they have.

  11. simplepimple2025 on

India’s caste society is inherently racist so it’s no surprise the beneficiaries of that society would find a home in Trumpland. It is nice to see the leopards having a go at their faces.

  12. Well, they shouldn’t be surprised. MAGA emboldens overt racism in the name of Christianity. It’s really fucked up, but hey, „we are owning the libs.“

  13. pinewind108 on

It always amazes me that they just don’t get the fact that MAGA doesn’t like brown people. People who look just like them.

Maybe they are used to the idea of their sort of brown being better than other sorts, and are okay with racism as a concept?

I’m a man of few prejudices.

One of them is against Brahmin Indians.

  15. Up here in Canada I work these Guatamalan and Cuban dudes who fucking love trump. Its so weird. They’re super Christian and super afraid of communism and their all in these WhatsApp echo chamber groups.

I don’t understand why they thought they would be accepted in the first place, is it because they don’t understand white America or do they and they think they’ll be considered “one of the good ones”?

Ultra conservatives can’t stand other ultra conservatives.

    Oh no.

  18. Vivek the mistake is now being bullied by racist little white boys at his speaking engagements.

“ In a New York Times op-ed from December titled “Groyperism Isn’t Conservatism. It’s Anti-Americanism,” Ramaswamy wrote of slurs like “Pajeet” and “street shitter” being lobbed at him on X. Still, he lays blame for this hateful speech with progressives, noting that the Groyper movement is a response to “anti-white discrimination over the last half-decade.” In other words, even the racism he’s facing is because of “woke.”
Mittal tells WIRED he thinks “academia and the left wing of the Democratic Party” are partially responsible for perpetuating anti-Indian stereotypes. But he says the right’s purity tests, which increasingly rely on race and religion, worry him. Anyone who strays will be eaten alive. “That’s what happened to Dinesh D’Souza,” he says.”

When you’re fully in the cult you just have to perform this level of mental gymnastics to justify your existence- or the house of cards falls down really, really fast. If it wasn’t so dangerous to the country it’d be sad. I’m sorry but these folks deserve what shit comes their way.

MAGA don’t like anyone with melanin. Why is that so hard for them to get?

  21. D-MAN-FLORIDA on

I saw this a mile away. Why did Indians think they were special to the GOP? They don’t like anyone who isn’t a straight Christian white man.

  22. Crazy to see that they and other POC MAGA, specifically delusional ass MAGA immigrants – which is almost an oxymoron in terms – don’t understand that no amount of cozying up to them will get them to accept them. English colonialism really fucked up Indian culture though. Insane.

My dad is Chinese and he supports maga, because he hates the lgbtq community, and he believe woman needs to stay in the kitchen. Non white maga crowd is an interesting group, they don’t care about anything else as long as the groups they hate are muffled and put on a short leash

I just learned an Indian i work with who won a lottery to live here, voted for trump even after trump closed that same lottery that helped him. Pulling the ladder.

  25. shahoftheworld on

Everyone is incorrectly saying these Indians are maga because they’re racist. They’re maga because these Indians are rug pullers who believe in the same philosophy of getting theirs and making sure no one else does. My extended family and some of my parents‘ friends voted Trump for money. Now theyre crying and all I tell them is they literally wrote an entire book of exactly what they wanted to do and you ignored it.

  26. dailyapplecrisp on

Lol South Indian men are predominantly who I work with and are almost all insanely conservative. It’s because it’s ingrained within their culture and insanely benefits them. It’s zero surprise they vote for Trump.
