      Scary situation. 35 cases and 5 deaths so far in northern Burundi (Mpanda district), mostly in one household and close contacts.

      Are they going to shut down people coming/going from the area? Or just let us know there’s a mystery illness and do nothing?

      It’s going to be some sort of chemical poisoning. I would further bet it’s related to some sort of mining and/or metal extraction. Asking AI regarding Burundi, mining, and those specific symptoms AI highlights arsine gas exposure.

      Arsine gas is not a chemical I was familiar with.

      Sad for those folks.

      Doesn’t this stuff happen like every other month? They hyped up COVID and now everyone thinks we’re constantly on the brink of another pandemic. Realistically most people don’t even think about COVID anymore, it was only a big deal because they made it a big deal and closed a bunch of shit down.
