  1. Avi said he’s going to spend at least a year traveling the country, listening to Canadians, and making the pitch for the NDP.

Even if he was leading now, there is no telling what polls are going to look like a year from now. That being said, a 9 point deficit is not impossible to make up.

  2. I understand why they did it, but it does seem a little random to throw John Tory into this poll.

Honestly, if I was the guy I’d just retire into the sunset. Plus, he doesn’t have the ethically cleanest political past.

  3. Just watched the video, I just can’t picture a world where Tory runs for the liberals. Doesn’t sit right, think he would run for the conservatives, being pc leader in mid 2000s. I do think it would be a good idea for Lewis to run in that riding. His best shot at a seat, I’d be ok with it.

  4. Is this poll asking about John Tory Sr. or John Tory Jr., because only one of them have expressed interest to join the Liberals? Sr. might be too scandal-ridden to join the Liberals (this is beyond social or economic policies).

  5. I think whether or not Avi Lewis should contest this by-election depends on when it happens. If it is in just a few months, he should avoid it because I don’t see the NDP numbers going up that much and LPC numbers going down. But if it is in almost a year or more and the NDP numbers continue to go up, he should risk it.

I unironically cannot imagine going from voting for Nate Erskine-Smith to voting for John Tory, whether it’s Jr. or Sr.

This really says something about the shapeless popularity of the Liberal brand right now.
