  1. I feel comforted that if I ever find myself in Brussels again, I’ll have an escape route.

(Just kidding. Brussels is actually pretty lovely. The central parts anyway; the outskirts seem a little dull.)

Interesting that there are parts of Belgium more than three hours from Brussels.

  3. To get to that random dot between Reims and Nancy, you need to go to Paris, go to another station and take another hish speed train. Feasible in 3 hours.

Paris on the eurostar is about an hour 20. That leaves an hour 40 to go a long way south west or east of Paris.

Keep this quiet please. No need to remind the Germans for the quickest route to Paris.

  6. Bear in mind that this only works for German trains, when you’re already in the train. If your departure time is originally set for 9am, you still might eat lunch at the same train station.

  7. Frankly, a direct TGV line Brussels ->Luxembourg -> Saarbrucken -> Strasbourg… That would be cool.

In three hours by train I can’t even get out of my *home state* in Australia. …I just checked, its 1300 km to the state border.
