Did not know Bangladesh overtook India, or Pakistan fell below. Interesting.

    2. Four countries either currently, or recently in a state of civil war. A closed dictarship. A couple more landlocked countries. And Pakistan.

    3. India is was and will be burdened by its eternal curse of human resource utilisation and the effects of being a low trust society period.

India is most likely the next brazil or russia or worse if destiny wants it to be south africa.

      Can debate eternally over this

I’m also from a developing country, yet if India were a region here, it would be dead last in HDI and GDP per capita. It would fare better if adjusted for purchasing power, though.

I wonder if Bhutan is higher or if they don’t release that information. I can’t imagine them to have a higher GDP than India.

    6. People wondering why India looks much poorer in nominal gdp vs ppp gdp, is because India has unusually good infrastructure and is uniquely well connected to global markets compared to other countries of their development level

Being cheap is not just a function if poverty, the poorest countries are pretty expensive, and improving your country, up to a point does make it cheaper

Likewise the US, for how rich it is, is the opposite, it has an uniquely low level of trade with the outside world and its infrastructure is worse than it should be for how wealthy it is, so it is specially expensive

I would rather be born in Syria or North Korea than come to the world in India, at least I would have lived an honorable life.
