The Conservatives now have 3 years for either Carney to mess up badly and/or find a new leader with new policies.
PP is a known quantity. He will never be able to shed his public perception since he has been around too long, nor does he seem to be able or willing too. The NDP has doubled down on their left activist wing and while early, but probably wont be making huge gains.

It’s definitely an odd position. He is, based on the last election, the most popular leader they’ve had in decades. But he still did lose. So there’s arguments on both sides, like do they wait for people to get sick of the liberals again as we’re already 11 years into their governance and wait for voters go to the other parties? Or try a new leader?
The liberals won a few elections with around 30% of the popular vote so you can still win elections in this country without needing 60-70% of Canadians’ support but it just doesn’t favour the conservatives in the current political climate as they’re too concentrated.

On one hand, I understand. He got a lot of votes last year.
On the other hand, it’s a sad state the party believes this is their best leader because everyone outside of conservative men abhor him

I genuinely believe that if the CPC splits up again, the PC wing might actually win. There’s more of the Reform types within the part, but that’s the wing that holds them back from winning nationwide.
A right-of-centre PC party would likely win a minority government, with the Reform giving them the coalition they want.

I guess they really do not want to form government..

As someone who voted for Carney, I want the Conservatives to have a new leader, someone who can actually compete with Carney. Someone who seems to actually understands real politics, and not the BS version being pedalled to the South of us. Real politics with real platforms and plans not slogans and slander. Leaders not actors.
PP is so damn unlikeable, and his form of politics is harmful to Canadian politics. Liberals need opposition to keep them in check and move forward on issues that liberals refuse to on their own.
And while I’m at it. The same can be said for the NDP. Sad to see credibility crumble.

My take is that the Conservative party knows that they won’t lead for another 3 years at least. Given this, they don’t need to find a new leader today.
I do believe that Poilievre is as good as gone though, but it’s poor optics to have him step down now before they have someone in mind.
My guess is that there is no one good enough at this point.
Things will ratchet up in the next 12 months.

Under Pierre Poilievre’s leadership, in just one year, the Liberal Party of Canada has won back the trust and renewed faith of the Canadian people. PP has brought a sense of unity, purpose, and strength that I think the Liberal Party has been struggling to maintain for some time now.
I never thought I’d say this? But PP is the best leader the Liberals have ever had, hands down.

Serious question for redditors. Especially for the same posters that say PP should resign. Say he does, would you vote CPC? If your answer is no, why do you care whether he does or not?

The Liberal Party is quite content with the Conservative Reform Party keeping the guy that is so divisive, his own party members continue to cross the floor.

That’s fine with me .. I can wait it out also. Just hope Carney stays with the Libs for a while also. Otherwise I’ll be on a election vacay.

PP is doubling down on his ‚law and order‘ agenda. He is insisting that Carney place crossing guards in the HoC so that his MPs can cross the aisle more safely.

Aaaaaand the CPC have lost again. They really can’t read the room. That’s why they lost last time and that ’s why they will lose again. People in the middle that don’t want LPC can’t vote CPC with a leader like that.

Woohoo! That means Carney’s leadership is also secure. Thanks Conservatives and PP. You’re the gift that keeps on giving.
He is the best thing for the Liberals right now
It’s like they don’t want to win anymore 🤷♂️
Hmm. Where have we heard this one before? If the question is being publicly asked the knives are already out.
