  1. TMZ is not everyone’s cup of tea, but I’m guessing they’re going to make life miserable for a lot of pols, which is only a good thing.

This rag going to start harassing people who actually have an impact on peoples lives, instead of random celebrities? How novel.

Traditional news withers away , tabloid steps up and fills the vacuum. Nature finds a way.

Watch, congress will now pass a law about taking pictures and “harassing” politicians so that no one can take pictures of them or talk to them in public.

  5. If they start asking the questions no one else in the media is asking, it could get interesting.

  6. This all sounds promising, but they’re owned by FOX so I’m not holding my breath that it will last.

This should be a no-brainer for TMZ. The daily shitshow of Washington literally writes the shows for them.

  8. TMZ being the saviour of journalistic integrity was not on my bingo card.

As a society, we should have focused our „TMZ energy“ from celebrities to politicians a long time ago. I see this as a good thing.

  10. I mean, legacy media is simply not up to the task.

Trump (sundowning): „I killed Osama bin Laden“

NYT: „Trump expresses falsehoods about conflicts in the Middle East“

  11. Since Mainstream media won’t do their jobs, might as well. Let people who are experts at harassing others harass congress for once.

  12. What twisted world do we live in where fucking TMZ is fighting the good fight

With how ruthless they are at getting the information they want…I am cautiously optimistic they make each of the republicans very VERY uncomfortable. Even if they remain quiet during any and all interactions. This is excellent news and I honestly think it fits well to have TMZ transition into this new role. It fits them. I hope they find success. Just don’t dig too deeply into who runs their parent organization.

I personally have never been a fan of TMZ, but at least the DC bureau has the opportunity to use their powers of evil for the betterment of the world. TMZ holding politicians accountable is such a unique timeline

This is actually a very positive development. These Congress people deserve to be paparazzi’d more than any celebrity

I am one hundred percent behind TMZ using the paparazzi to go after these guys. It’s a weird sort of post-modern capitalist activism. People know way too much about celebrities and not enough about politicians.

So long as that same capitalism doesn’t have them taking bribes for squashing stories. TMZ has already told us they are a snake.

  17. Accountability for the people getting paid with our tax dollars? I’m all for it

  18. MAGAHATESTHEUSA on

They did a thing where they followed politicians around hounding them like celebrities around 10 years ago. It was the best thing ever that tmz could ever do. Hopefully it’s this in full form

I totally forgot you don’t have to JUST troll famous people. You can troll the people in power, too. Give ‘em the old razzle dazzle.

  20. They run the TMZ like the navy. If you were to die as a celebrity you’d find out about it through TMZ first before yourself.

Sounds like a fine plan to me. TMZ won’t make them honest, but maybe it will keep them looking over their shoulders.

TMZ, if you concentrate your insistent and invasive journalism on politicians and political elites instead of random cultural figures I would be grateful.

  23. artbystorms on

If TMZ decides to pivot to harassing congress goons like it would harass celebrities I am here for it. They could give Mainstream media a lesson or two on persistence and tracking down a lead.

You know what, I’m ok with this. If the White House press pool is going to be filled with influencers and people who probably don’t know where the constitution was signed, I’m good with this.

I love this. It is what the moment needs. Not a fan of TMZ and it’s zero ethics, zero morals approach to journalism … but this is going to be oddly productive I’m predicting

I mean, they might as well. These nutsacks in government have been turning politics into petty celebrity drama BS for decades. Maybe the paparazzi will do a better job than traditional media has due to their experience with empty, vapid, losers that happen to be rich.

  27. goldenboy2191 on

I do not care for paparazzis harassment and predatory tactics to make a buck. But if they’re shifting and going after politicians? I am throwing my full support behind them on this!

Bizarrely, the possibility of a force for no-good being used against a massive force for evil is one of the most encouraging and hopeful things I’ve seen in this mess in a long time…
