I don’t know the reason but I already hear my fathers voice telling me that its probably toilet leaking.

Any leaks somewhere? Even a small leak can cause significant spikes. Toilet is the most common issue.

My tenant had the same thing, it turned out that the toilet water was not closing properly. Replaced the toilet pot.

Check for leaks. Check if toilet tank is not stuck in the open position.

    5. The first line includes all water (Water and sewage), the second line is the volume and cost of water heating. My utility bill looks the same as yours, „Vesi ja kanalisatsioon“ is a sum of all my cold + hot water.

    6. The 17m3 is all water and the 10m3 means out of all water 10m3 was warm. You pay for 17m3 of water and for 10m3 of it to be warmed. So you used 7 cold and 10 warm

    7. It’s also possible that the water usage was more previously, but you didn’t report the water meter numbers. So at some point it gets readjusted as real numbers are reported by apartment owner? or found out otherwise.

check for your last months paper. yes vesi+kanalisatsioon is both cold+hot water, since hot water also is sent to canalisation..

    9. You used 17m3 of water in total, from which 10m3 was heated.

Are you been reporting previous months water meter values by yourself, or someone else did it behalf of you, or are they recorded remotely by KÜ or water company? Are water meter values on the previous 1-2 months bill according what you reported back then?

    10. If no leaks are detected anywhere, it’s a bit suspicious. However, I have also heard of a situation where a KÜ tried to settle one resident’s debts to the KÜ by increasing everyone’s water usage and making them pay more.

17m3 looks hella lot. I use dishwasher at least 2x a week, washing machine 2-3x a week. Take a shower at least once every day and I have never managed to use more than 5m3.

If your heated water and total water usage used to be about the same and now you are using 10m3 of cold watwr more – it means you are using/leaking cold water somewhere. Check the toilet and any other cold water connections after the meter.

it seems like you’re renting an apartment, is there any chance that they just divide up the water usage for the building between all tenants? meaning that a few other neighbour’s significantly increased their water usage and everyone’s bills went higher

    13. How was your last bill written? Did it have extra line where hot and cold water volume is separated or hot water heating price also included cold water volume? You said you use 7m3 cold and 7-8m3 hot water so the total should be around 14-15m3, 17 isin’t far off. The flat might be heating the water itself so they only bring in cold water from outside. Hot water is still just cold water but with heating price added.

How are the meters setup? Is it personal or shared. If it is personal you can check if the meter is still running when everything is turned off (leaks). With shared maybe usage is just bigger and you got bigger shared bill.

    14. First row : 17 m3 water , second row: 10 m3 of water heating ( not hot water ).

Except that 17 m3 of water in one month is a lot… Check the history of the meters.

    15. No_Maximum_6697 on

17 m3 of water usage is insane amount for a single person to use per month…you either didnt report the usage previous month or something is leaking

      These are suspiciously round numbers?

Usually every apartment has water meter It has numbers like 00000.000m^(2) so you see your water usage with a 1 liter precision. Sometimes the .000 numbers are just small dials.

If the usage has grown so much, then the first thing would be to see if the water meter is running while all water outlets are closed.

„vesi ja kanalisatsioon“ (water and sewage) is the total amount of water used.

„vee soojendamine“ (water heating) is just the amount of water out of the previous line that was heated

10m^(2) of hot water is really large amount. and 17m^(2) altogether also.

    17. National_Muffin_9861 on

It could be toilet leaking, it will add up quickly.

But why not just ask the one who created the bill, whats up with the numbers

    18. yup it’s a correction from previous estimates. I paid €500+ because I hadn’t sent water numbers for 3 years and I was constantly only paying the water line usage fee 😀 it’s okei

    19. People keep missing the point, and telling you the same things. OP’s last month’s total was 7+8, this month’s is 17+10. 2 years in Estonia, and now magically water usage almost doubles. Prices are almost the same, but “calculation formula” changes. Previous month should’ve been 15+8, but it’s not, so where does this month’s 17-10 go to?
