This is devastating news. A majority liberal government is awful news for many people. Personally, I am fine. I own property, collect rent and have high income.

But for others, their world just got harder. I feel for so many.

But, for the lazy people of this country, more government handouts coming your way lmao

If you cannot afford groceries to feed your family, dental care, child care, I do not give a single fuck. Not one. Not my problem or my responsibility to pay for your shit because you’re too lazy to do it yourself.

I think now they’ll be emboldened to do things they wouldn’t have done before. They knew high immigration was a contentious issue so pulled it back. Now that they have their majority watch them ramp it back up to juice the economy.

  3. CPC getting completely decimated is something to see , they are no where near to what they won last time in these ridings

Let’s see if that big tent caucus is as big of a problem as some people suggest it will be with a very small majority. I don’t really see it being an issue until the agenda substantially changes, but we’ll see.

There should be more pressure to be successful with a majority and less opposition to their agenda. Can’t blame „obstructionist“ conservatives anymore. Houses need to get built, projects need get started if not finished, and competition and cost-of-living problems need to be substantively addressed. There is still a lot of work to do on the domestic file before it can be considered a successful term for Carney.

Aside from that, I’m also interested to see how rancorous Poilievre’s response to this majority will be. He seemed visibly upset every time he had to discuss the possibility of the majority happening, and now it is here. Maybe he will move past it, but I imagine we will hear about Carney’s sneaky backroom majority for months on end now. I hope he proves me wrong.

Edit: Poilievre’s response was pretty much as expected. Rancour spilling through every line.

  5. Maybe even Terrebonne. The other 2 were basically a given . I guess we will now see what a Carney majority is like. The man has been making a lot of deals. Going to be interesting to see how many work out.

He’s so far not proposing any large changes like the Trudeau government. They legalized pot and priced carbon and created maid and banned some guns. Large societal changes did not go over that well in certain areas. I think the most radical thing about Carney is the largest increase in military spending in peace time in our history. But he was doing that with a minority so that can’t be too disruptive to those offended at all Trudeau’s changes.

PP doesn’t want a train …. he didn’t want pot either but he’s adjusted and accepted and that was a whole lot more societal changing than a fast train.

I’m glad he’s got his majority. The next Jan 6th type event is in 2029 and this majority is likely until mid 2029ish.

  6. The most undemocratic and unethical majority government in history. Now there is nobody else to blame for Canada’s problem but the Liberals. I’m fearful of the tyrannical rule of the LPC. I have absolutely no faith in Carney, he’s a power hungry little man..

Canadian politics is a joke. The decision was made at the federal election and floor crossers can effectively dismiss the decision of the entire country.

This is disgraceful. And for the record I would also not think it was fair if the CPC did it.

    The federal election means nothing.

  8. If a year and a half ago you told me that the Liberals will get another majority government (and that Trump would say/post the things he’s said in just THIS month) I would’ve thought you were crazy.

    But here we are….

I’m optimistic for Carneys majority government. He was already making a lot of deals with countries prior but now there is more room for him to work with. Hopefully they push for some serious change in the country that will help everyone.

  10. Well boys and girls, our future is ruined. If the past 10 years haven’t taught us anything… we’re doomed.

Welcome the days of ID verification, more surveillance and corruption.

I’m saying this a liberal supporter. No majorities are good. The worst part is, the next election will be a CPC minority or possibly a majority. Things are bad, and about to get worse so it’ll just push us to vote blue vs red when really it’s the rich vs the working class.

Downvote all you want – come back in a year or two and see how screwed the working class is.

There a lot of pundits saying Pierre is in trouble, he won’t be able to hold off his caucus for another 3 years.

I’m telling you now there is 0 chance he will be removed.

People don’t understand how deeply in love the CPC base is with Pierre. The second coming has nothing on the absolute love for Pierre.

The CPC will happily lose 100 times with Pierre than winning once with anyone else. Thats my hot take, mark my words, Pierre won’t be going anywhere for 3 years, and frankly I think he’ll run again after he loses again in 3 years.

The CPC base will never leave him because winning is not a criteria they are imposing on him. Winning is just a bonus, not necessary at all.
