Interesting tidbit in the article is that apparently Gladu told CPC officials she did not intend to run in the next election.
So that clears any potential Qs over why she defected from a safe party in her riding.
If the Conservative caucus was going to revolt they would have done it by now. For whatever reason, they believe Pierre will get them into government and seem to be content to ride that into 2029.
I’m honestly convinced at this point that the only way Poilievre resigns is if he does it himself. At this point, he won’t be pushed out. So many ‘influencers’ like Mario Zelaya and so on are axing anyone who speak against Poilievre.
At this point, if someone told me that Carney and PP had secretly been best friends their whole lives, and that PP is just sticking around to make sure his bestie stays PM until 2034, I’d believe it without question…
It’s the only way that the current situation makes sense in my head.
The reality is he truly is their best shot at the moment based on their current strategy, which is to appeal to a far right audience that enjoys US style politics. It’s not a very good shot, but it is their best. Who’s strong enough to replace him in this vein? The only person I can think of would be Danielle Smith – the right absolutely *LOVE* that woman, and that would be TERRIBLE for Canada. I’d much rather have Pierre as the opposition leader over Danielle Smith.
The problem is, the Conservatives might actually have a shot if they brought on a more progressive leader, but they’ve gone too far right to backtrack now. Their entire base is convinced that any left ideologies are the spawn of Satan. But they’ll never win an election if they can’t convince Liberal voters that there is a better option.
Erin O’Toole for example – he was actually a Conservative leader I may have considered voting for if the platform was well presented, but he was too progressive for the CPC voter base.
🤣
“Not expecting…” while it’s actually happening?
And people wonder why this 💩 lost and will never be the PM.
Can we all agree he’s irrelevant? And if you don’t agree, you’re as delusional as he is.
