It is a really interesting & dynamic shakeup of Quebec politics, but If I had to guess, I’d assume that the CAQ can’t really salvage the situation regardless of who they picked as leader. Legault has left too many blunders behind him and the whole shtick of ambiguously balancing federalism and Quebec nationalism doesn’t seem to be working for the CAQ anymore. the federalists are generally moving towards the Liberals and Conservatives while the separatists and nationalists are going to the PLQ. Though I do think that Fréchette has the potential to help play kingmaker in the aftermath if the PQ can’t win outright or make a coalition with QS to hold power etc.
