Depends on what anti-war means here I guess.

People who condemn all forms of military action have no business there and should be separated. Those who don’t want Japan to engage in external actions it has no business in, makes sense, and is pretty common in most militaries across the world.

  2. This is the same guy who wrote the recent „Chinese honeypot“ article and I have to assume its another excerpt from his current book (and that the book is from the same publisher as President magazine because it doesn’t deserve the repeated coverage).

    >Aside from anti-war SDF personnel, there are several other cases where espionage activities against the Defense Agency (Ministry) and the Self-Defense Forces are suspected

Framing military personnel who are opposed to war as an anti-state espionage operation is a particularly distorted and dangerous take on things that seems to have zero concern for the importance to the state and the people (which the Jieitai are expected to serve) in preventing or avoiding war whenever possible.

    >It is unclear whether the person in question was actually a spy

This guy shouldn’t be let anywhere near intelligence operation as he does this kind of thing a lot. Unfortunately, such allegations are the kind of BS the politically-orineted intelligence thrives on.

    Talking about his own command:

    >The fixed-term troops had the highest intelligence quotients in the country,

    but also

    >At the time, the 32nd Regiment became nationally famous because a large number of its members became „anti-war SDF personnel.“

He seems unclear whether to praise them for being super-smart or paint them as idiot anti-war protestors. He then suggests the latter’s presence was part of a plot by Communist’s to overthrow the country (presumably with their army of left-wing octogenarians), that people with left-wing beliefs „were victims manipulated by demons“, and that he wanted to a Communist himself when he was younger but his family was against so he decided to become an „establishment“ person.

I’m praying I don’t hear about this guy getting appointed to any role connected to actual policy creation.
