They will be gleeful that the peace talks failed.

      ‚Here comes conquest!‘

    2. I’m not surprised. What I am still surprised about is that they have not moved west and tried to take the Sinai peninsula…yet

How is Israel allowed to annex land in Lebanon, which is a *sovereign nation*?

Israel looking back at the 1940s and be like „Yes we will try that!“

    5. We can casually announce we are invading other countries now? Is it antibiotics to call this out also?

Edit: Autocorrect, I’ll let it slide this time.

We are aware Israel has control of this land ‚in order to secure the people of Israel from terrorist attacks‘

But if you let Israel claim this land permanently then it won’t be a buffer zone anymore.

Israeli will build houses on it and then in order to protect those houses Israel will expand once again to create a new buffer zone.

The correct take is not to allow this.

It should be made clear to Israel that the land they are occupying is not theirs and they are not to build on it.

80% of all articles relating to Israeli internal politics can be categorized to Ben Gvir and Smotrich.

They’ve gotten so much world media attention that people clicking on the articles ($$$) believe the government is somehow at the whim of 2 ministers who were nobodies up until 3 years ago

A magical invisible man in the sky told them it was theirs 4000 years ago.

They have a book to prove it.

      We are so fucked.

I don’t see anything else other than rhetoric. Where is this announced as official?

So now that they consider it core territory, all the people there will be considered Israeli, right? They will have full rights, and no longer merely be occupied people right?

Because if not, and they are treated as foreigners in the land they’re originally from and forced to live as second class citizens outside of Israeli civil society, that would fall under the definition of a very contested word that many people have assured me doesn’t apply to Israel, right?

    11. Smotrich trying to recover some political power. He has been saying that on Gaza for over a year now and nothing happened.

Can’t absorb buffer zones as territory, because then you’d need new buffer zones.

Remember if you oppose this you are antisemitic and no better than hitler himself

Novara is not a reliable source and is misinforming the public. Yes Smotrich is a minister and has awful opinions, but he is in no position to make such statements with any meaning.

How is this any different to what Russia are doing in Ukraine? Where is the outcry from world leaders about this? Or are they scared of being called antisemetic?

    16. This is medieval nonsense with modern weapons and the US are party to it.

    17. No sanctions though. Internation law was already a tool used by some to punish weaker opponents. Now it’s completely gone.

    18. Is it still guilt about WW II that the west continues to let Israel get away with being a hateful, murderous state?

    19. Sgt_major_dodgy on

I feel like Israel has realised the world is sick of their shit, their bank (the US) now has most of their citizens questioning why they even support Israel so they’re trying to claw as much land as they can before they end up being a pariah state that nobody will help.

buffer zones for buffer zones for buffer zones for buffer zones for…

    21. The more this is normalized without consequences, the more emboldened Trump will feel to also pursue such „special operations“ around the US under his „Donroe Doctrine“’

    22. These extreme right-wing, cruel nationalists in Israel are too much. They want to expand Israel apparently, no matter how many innocent people they kill and terrorize. No. That’s where the West needs to say absolutely no. Defend yourself? ok. Go after specific terrorists? yes. However, torture entire populations and collective punishment? That’s where people globally need to draw the line.

    23. Israel’s teenage-boy-grade lust for Lebanon is the worst kept secret in the ME.
