I don’t know enough about finance to judge how big the ‚loophole‘ actually is. But common sense tells me that Alipay is primarily used by Chinese tourists. Aside from a tiny minority, Chinese people living in Japan can’t settle their daily expenses in RMB long-term. Using Alipay for massive purchases like real estate is even more impossible—the Chinese government would never allow that much capital to flee the country.
Back when Chinese tourists were flocking to Japan and spending tons of money, every business was scrambling to set up Alipay and WeChat Pay; no one complained back then. But now that the Chinese government has restricted outbound travel, and with the rising tide of xenophobia and public frustration in Japan… well, you see where I’m going with this.

Alipay: taking care of finances, so you have more time to walk around gazing at your phone.
