> “I grew up watching the show,” Ellsworth-Clark told People. “I know that Dewey was a fan favorite, but he was also a personal favorite. And I think I was aware that maybe people might be disappointed Erik wasn’t gonna come back and do the show. I guess I didn’t want to fuck that up.”
> The actor said he felt immediate nerves heading into production, admitting he was “really, really nervous showing up” to set. Still, those concerns quickly eased thanks to the returning cast. “They were so warm and welcoming,” he said. “I was really scared to show up but they all took such great care of me and made me feel like I belong. So I am really grateful to all of them,” he added in the same interview.
No disappoint here, she is fantastic. Her side looks could kill.
Casting is spot on. He looks exactly like the original actor.
He did a good job, and I enjoyed the revival. Though I can’t help but think that if Erik Per Sullivan had returned, we would’ve had Dewey with the family and not via zoom the whole time.
I just finished watching it and loved every minute and Caleb did a great job certainly didn’t fuck it up
Loved the show, thought he did amazing as Dewey. I get why they had him give limited appearances via zoom, but I think he would have also been just as good in-person.
Either way, really hope there is more. Show felt spot-on with the original.
I love the casting for new Dewey, especially because original Dewey didn’t want to come back, so no one would hate him for taking the role.
However, if they decide to do more episodes, and the original Dewey wanted to come back, they have the chance to do the funniest thing and just recast with original and act like nothing happened while the rest of the family make random comments on how Dewey has changed a lot recently, or something like that. Or even better, make it so Dewey was found out to have cast a double to talk to his family all these years and they find out he’s been living an even better life away from them, like a version of this Malcom who pretended they didn’t exist.
