Lmao. The west is so fucked. Fed propaganda for decades that they were low skill jobs we didn’t want. All while Apple, a single corporation, invested more in Chinese education and infrastructure in a year than the US government did in 10.

I believe we have entered the find out stage. A direct result of having no plan for anything other than enriching the oligarchs

Complete bullshit article. It’s just about automation and nothing that’s impossible to catch up to.

The fucking commies will eat it up though lmao.

If only they hadn’t been so busy sucking of all of our wealthy overlords in the oil sector, maybe they could have pulled ahead lmao

      > Three democratic senators, including Tammy Baldwin, Elissa Slotkin, and Chuck Schumer all urged President Trump and his administration to ensure vehicles built by Chinese automakers in Mexico or Canada are barred from entering the U.S. market.

Should we innovate? No, it’s the customers who are wrong for demanding the latest technology

    5. Good Lord, China is taking over the world because everybody else is going to just straight up LET them for some fucking reason.

    6. America is falling behind and their answer is to just ban things so that the rich can stay rich a little longer.

We are going to end up decades behind thanks to this current administration.

    7. All these domestics have absolute garbage leadership decisions.

Honda made the Honda e, it doesn’t sell, they don’t even try to sell it in North America because „no one over here buys small compact vehicles“ … Then when China is about to sell small compact vehicles in Mexico and Canada they panic?

      Which one is it Honda?

    8. Ok I know everyone here tends to polish chinas knob on the EV front, but is literally ANYONE concerned about them being basically rolling malware for the CCP?

    9. My guess is he wants the KR government to further subsidize Honda. These suits that make public comments always have ulterior motives

    10. CV didn’t make excuses, didn’t hesitate, they jumped into EVs and have created a market while others hid behind a cushion waiting tonsee what others would do, and lost because of this.

    11. You had an advantage as an establish automaker when China could barely make a car that doesn’t fall apart in 6 months. Like the rest of big auto, you squandered 2 decades resisting the electrical car revolution. Now that China is eating your lunch, you sound surprised?

    12. Look at margins.

These Chinese companies operate for years with negative margins and even when they get up and running they continue to operate at the thinnest margins possible so they can gobble up market share and push out volume.

Here in the US and even Japan, these companies are ONLY interested in short term shareholder value and put so much pressure on management to increase margins they end up sacrificing long term value.

Another minute, another chinese ad in r/technology

      Inflection takes its toll

    14. We certainly have a chance. It would just involve making some really really really rich people just really really rich, so…

Ok yeah we have no chance against this.

    15. The problem is that cars in North America are so over bloated with luxury in order to extract max profit from each unit. Why do cars still come with infotainment systems when a simple Bluetooth speaker system will do the trick? Why does every car have at least two 4k screens when one simple display and physical knobs function fine? Every car comes with at least 17 inch wheels and wide tires now when they are unneeded. Nobody sells a five speed manual anymore. With the yen as weak as it is Honda could probably make a $16K civic DX and sell 50 million of them, but they refuse.

    16. Don’t forget all the great decisions the Japanese government made when it was pushing its domestic carmakers to go with hydrogen fuel cell because it didn’t want to outsource battery manufacturing.

It STILL keeps trying to push that tech in its commercials if you listen closely.

this reminds me of the very late 70s and early 80s when the Japanese started to import cars into the US that got better mileage and were of better quality for the price than the traditional US manufacturers… here we go again.

I don’t think it’s possible for any first world country to compete monetarily with a country that legally allows slave wages.

Like, the US cannot make a comparable electric car cheaper than China can, full stop. We could perfect electric car manufacturing and still lose in a price war with China simply because we still need to pay employees far more comparatively

Chinese propaganda. No one in a corporation is just going to give up. And no one shows someone else their secrets.
