This breakthrough shows how brain-computer interfaces combined with AI could soon transform quality of life for millions living with advanced ALS, locked-in syndrome, or severe paralysis.

„He’s now back to **beating his kids** (awkward pause) at Mario Kart…“

Watch… it’ll just be a guy in the Philippines controlling his voice remotely…

    4. Heard about this from a buddy of mine who is a nurse who has worked with somebody who uses a neuralink. Sounded legitimately amazing and hopefully worth all those fried monkeys.

Elon is a charlatan. This like most of his ideas (human colony on Mars, self-driving cars) will be decades late or vastly under deliver.

It’s an Elon product, so it’s either a scam or he stole it from someone else

    7. jeez if he just waited a couple years and not put something the size of 5 quarters in there

    8. I wonder if Elon thinks this offsets the hundreds of thousands who died as a result of DOGE cuts?

    9. It’s not that this isn’t really really fucking cool and has helped this man tremendously.

The problem is that it exists in the convergence of two major social problems, the financial inaccessibility of a lot of medicine, and the extreme and earned distrust of modern tech companies for their extractive practices and privacy violations.

    10. Can he substitute his voice with Dark Vadar’s? Simple license fee to Disney.

How do you know it’s him and not some guy removing into his neurolink from China?
But really – congrats to this guy. Sounds like his life is so much better

    12. Is this interview in real time? Or did they give him time to compose his answers? Also I want to see how good he is at Mario kart. Curious how much faster this is that the old eye tracking communication.

    13. I mean Steven Hawking was able to speak with his computer interface and a voice synthesizer.
If we had proper AI voice at that point in time, this would not be such hype news.

How long until the procedure fails like it did with the guy who got to play Civ 6 with his brain for a sweet six months?

Unfortunately now he just rants 24/7 about The Great Replacement Theory, Afrikaners being the real victims of racism in South Africa, and how trans people are the real enemies of the state.

He also now inexplicably suffers from a rare form of ASD where an individual obsesses over trains, but only German trains built between 1933 and 1945.

Let’s hope it’s not another Theranos case. If not, then it’s quite amazing.

What exactly is te-le-pA-thy? Can they not even afford good teleprompter readers on this half-baked network. These are the same people who want to home school their kids.

    18. Given Musk’s previous shenanigans with overhyping and intentionally misleading people with technologies developed by companies he owns, I remain sceptical.

From the video alone, I’m not entirely convinced that the output is from Smith, and not something that could be made-up by AI and not be his actual thoughts – it’s a very generic and non-specific response. However I do recognise with interviews, it’s usually the same content and questions that come up, so there isn’t much room to go beyond a scripted response, so it’s difficult to make a judgement on this video alone.

I’m hopeful to be wrong here since it would be an incredible achievement and life changing for Smith and his family, but yeah, still sceptical about this.

    19. Big question— 8 seconds in, is that him and snoop making backwards S’s? Or S’s for themselves to gaze at?
