Both Chuck Schumer and Hakeem jeffries are unfit to lead the party. They need to pave way for the younger leadership.

I would spend more time building the foundation of the Democratic Party like endorsing Universal Healthcare. Approval ratings for Democrats are low; even lower than Republicans!

The public is demanding a party that addresses their deep concerns not just standard combative politics. Yes, Trump should be impeached and arrested for gross corruption, but working-class families are struggling and looking for a party totally dedicated to their needs. That must be the Democratic Party. Time to define and promote the party and their policy priorities like UHC, raising the minimum wage, regulations to contain AI … etc.

The Democrats could do something really funny.

Remember when Reagan worked with the Iranians about the hostages.? The Democrats need to back channel with the Iranians and have them make releasing the unreacted Epstein files part of the cease fire agreement. Iran should just do that on their own.

No wonder Democrats are constantly losing. They are stuck so much in their old ways that they won’t make space for the future. If democrats ever want to get back into power they need to replace the old.

Their concerns are about getting pigeonholed in the futility of impeachment, and that taking the oxygen away from other areas where the spotlight is bad for Trump. Likely, they are also concerned about an impeachment giving Trump somewhat of a lifeline as he always does well when his claims of persecution have a little more „weight“ to them. Anyone here want to actually have a think about these reasons or are we just gonna do the same circlejerk about the Bailieys and AIPAC Shakur?

Weird because they voted to impeach him twice already and nothing happened. It’s almost like they aren’t the ones blocking it and its the 100% of the GOP voting against it that is stopping it.

Impeachment is a useless political theater move. There is no way it gets past the senate so it does nothing. Id rather they be focused on stuff like the war ppwer resolution which has the possibility of getting enough detectors in the senate to actually do something.

They don’t want to energize his base. Nothing fucks the midterms for republicans more than having this clown playing offense all day.

I mean he obviously needs to be impeached again, but we don’t want to wast political capital on another futile attempt – it needs to succeed this time. For that, timing is everything because we need to make sure the votes are there. If the votes aren’t there before midterms (likely), then Dems need to make sure that the midterms are free and fair; they’re likely to win big and can pursue impeachment for real afterward.

Considering how much of a terrorist organization MAGA and their dumb fuck leadership is, what with their tendencies to threaten, attack, or scare those whom deny the greatness of Dear Leader, I can kinda sorta understand hesitance on their part, only because the President, THE PRESIDENT, is such a loose cannon these days, and if they try, and FAIL to oust him, he’s most likely to make their lives Hell. I’m talking family members safety, property damage, constant harassment. How likely do you think it would be for Dump to post on Truth in a “not roundabout at all” way for a call to arms to “real” MAGA to do something about those whom attempted impeachment. The guy is a fucking psychopath, unhinged, with more power than he deserves, and a cowardly following itching to “make liberals cry” but only if daddy says so

The article is a bit manipulative. It’s written like the democrats are on charge, and they have the majority in the house.

Until the midterms all they can do is find creative ways to spotlight the his bullshit. Laying out the case for the 25th amendment seems the smart way. List the evidence.

I hate Trump with a passion. I also understand reluctance to impeach.

What would the point be? He will not be removed from office. There is a 0% chance of it, right?

So what do we get? Hearings, a news cycle focusing this for ages, and then a HUGE risk of two things:

1) Appearance that democrats are wasting time and money on a massive procedure that will have no functional or practical result.

2) The ability for Trump to stand up and pretend he’s been vindicated because he was ‚innocent‘ in the Senate, and point to another ‚witch hunt‘ that went nowhere.

The risk/reward here just doesn’t make sense to me. We hate Trump, and want to stop him, hurt him, etc, but… this would accomplish none of that.

They can call now but what is their impeachment cry supposed to accomplish longer term?

Even if they convince some across the House isle to impeach Trump (again), we all know the Republicans will never convict him with a two thirds senate majority (unless they secretly agreed to that now).

So, if they do call for impeachment, without a pre-approved conviction and removal commitment from the Republicans, Trump gets to rile up his presently somewhat disillusioned base (once again) with a persecution complex, shifting their focus from Epstein, Iran, gas prices, etc. and the Dems lose valuable voter focus on all the fucked up things Trump is causing to happen to them in real time, months before an extremely important midterm vote.

He’s not going to be removed, Republicans won’t do it.

Impeaching him allows Republicans to divert the attention from Trump fucking the country, and energizes his base which is about to sit out the midterms.

The more seats Democrats win in the midterms the less damage he will be able to do over the following two years, and if we can get a big enough victory in the Senate puts impeachment and removal from office on the table.

Can we please, for the love of God, stop falling for the same both sides are bad bullshit being pumped through the internet again. One side isn’t exactly what you want. The other side is tearing down the entire world.

I’m actually kind of with them on this; is this the best use of political capital?

Does he need to be impeached? YES! Not just impeached, but more importantly, REMOVED. If he isn’t removed, then what’s the point? This isn’t some decent into nihilism, but a serious question since we’ve been here before. Impeach > No conviction > Republicans preach that Democrats just have it out for the guy > Trump twists it, and turns it more into a them v. us scenario > He gains more steam > He gains more power > We’re fucked harder.

UNLESS they can get 2/3 of the Senate, I think it’s wise to look into other avenues because it will just drag the country through weeks of semantics and bullshit, rational citizens will lose further faith in the rule of law, the opposition will be further emboldened, etc. At that point, its almost wiser to focus on bread and butter politics.

I hate that we’re here, but this is what history has shown us. If anything, they should be putting belt to ass right now and raising awareness; have ads blasting in areas where *rump/republicans won with large margins and create a pressure campaign. Everyone in America making less than $100,000 is suffering right now, and they should be letting their senators and representatives hear it. Make it to where it would be political suicide to NOT vote for removal, and do it before the midterms, that way you have a fail safe if you do go for it:

„[Insert No vote Name Here] doesn’t care that your bills are going up. [Name] doesn’t think you should be able to put food on your table. [Name] believes pointless wars are more important than what you, THE PEOPLE, pay them to do. This November, make sure [Name] knows who’s really in charge…“ it quite literally rights itself.

If they’re not willing to do this, then don’t do it at all. But I’m just a plebe, so what do I know.

If you want Trump impeached then work to get 67 democrat senators who will vote to convict. If we can’t then it’s useless to try. And if we had that I’d argue it’s better to use the session time to undo Trump’s crap rather then get Vance as POTUS

(*They are correct that impeachment with the current House and Senate makeup is a pointless and performative exercise that wont do anything but sap energy that’s better spent elsewhere, but nobody wants to be caught dead siding with Dem leadership so we have to pretend to be angry…*)

Who gives a shit?  Until democrats take the house it’s meaningless.  Even if they take the house without the senate it’s performative.  I’m more concerned about removing these two clowns for their sins far graver than a doomed impeachment crusade

Even if he were removed from office, it gives the GOP 6 months to erase voters memories before the midterms.

Let the GOP get slaughtered in the midterms so Dems have a better shot at taking both chambers of Congress.
