  1. I just assume the ghost of Hitler is living vicariously through him at this point…

Fucking travesty after travesty after travesty followed by golden reminders of all his crimes.

I mean we don’t have to go straight to Hitler for this one. A lot of authoritarian leaders want to do this. Not everything has to be directly compared to Hitler

Hitler isn’t an unfair comparison, from a purely “consolidate authoritarian power” perspective

…but if you want to be serious with the comparisons, the best historical analogy to Trump that I’ve found is Ceasar. Their populism, the state of Rome at the time of republic collapse, and so **SO** much more, links the two

(Obviously of course Trump is a coward and Caesar went into and literally led battle charges whenever it was needed… but from a political perspective)

In his bunker as the Russians closed in, Hitler fixated on a model of “Germania” – the fantasy capital he imagined building when he ‚won the war‘.

A diminishing mind retreating into grandiose fantasy of control and legacy-building as defeat closed in. By early 1945, Hitler was described as a physical wreck. frequently dragging his leg.

Fantasy dreaming of monuments – only to himself – but leaving only ruin. In the end he ordered scorched earth on his own country, believing even his supporters had failed him.

As a tax payer I support the Trump arch 100%. In fact I will be donating more as everyone here should. Trump and hitler both are similar in wanting to improve and clean there countries I agree. I for one think that DOES call for monuments.

  6. Hitler painted. Trump sketched nude teen girls with his signature as their pubic hair.

    Never forget.

Make America (1930’s) Germany Again! January 6th = Beer Hall Putsch 2.0! ICe = Gestapo 2.0!

Hitler never had sex with underage girls or raped women (that we know of). He’s got Trump beat there.

  9. I live near the Hermann statue.

There is a story/joke from the Nazi time about it.

Hermann Göring, the vain chief of the Nazi Luftwaffe, once inspected an air base in the town of Detmold. The hosts told him about the nearby statue and asked if he wants to visit it. Göring smiled and said: „You have build a Hermann statue? Ohhhh… But that wouldn’t have been necessary.“

But seriously. Monarchs and other autocratic leaders feel the need to build monuments about themselves, because they think they are the most important and everyone else is there to serve and worship them.

Democracies don’t need that stuff. The government of a democracy is there to serve its people, not the other way around. It has to be modest and sober. There is no place for useless vanity like that.

Currently reading The Art Spy by Michelle Young and the comparisons that can be made to current discourse are shocking. Hitler’s belief that only he had the correct taste in art, history, architecture and that everything else must be destroyed. Curators hiding things, hamstringing operations so the museum collections don’t get destroyed.

  11. In a normal world, the headline would be the other way around. Like Hitler, Trump _____.
