We need an independent body given the utmost authority to not only remove elected officials, but to hand out the harshest of sentences for those defrauding taxpayers and abusing their positions.
If some groups get reduced sentences due to their backgrounds, the opposite should be in place for those who choose to work in these positions of power. Steal $1 from 30M taxpayers should result in 30M counts of theft. This should be 30M counts of fraud and consecutive sentences. Hand out a few of these and people in power will think twice before abusing their positions.
