Emanuel Fabian, Times of Israel’s military correspondent, is summing up the war from Israeli perspective:
During the war, Iran fired around 650 ballistic missiles at Israel. Many of these missiles carried cluster munitions that spread small explosives over wide areas (A war crime of the highest magnitude, seemingly met with complete apathy across the world, the EU, the UN, and many human rights institutions. Interesting to witness). The attacks killed 24 civilians in total, including 20 people in Israel and 4 Palestinians in the West Bank. Most of those killed were not inside bomb shelters. More than 7,000 people in Israel were injured, and over 5,500 were forced to leave their homes.
Some missiles with large conventional warheads directly hit populated areas and caused heavy destruction. There were also dozens of cases where cluster bombs landed in cities, creating many separate impact points and increasing the danger to civilians.
Israel carried out a very large air campaign. The Israeli Air Force dropped over 18,000 bombs in more than 10,800 strikes on about 4,000 targets across Iran. These included missile launchers, air defense systems, weapons factories, nuclear facilities, and military leaders. The United States also carried out about 13,000 strikes of its own.
Israel said it destroyed or disabled about 60 percent of Iran’s missile launchers and heavily damaged its air defense systems, with around 85 percent of them hit. Iran started the war with about 2,500 missiles, and officials now estimate it still has around 1,000 that can reach Israel. Israel also claimed it severely damaged Iran’s ability to produce new missiles.
The strikes also targeted Iran’s nuclear program, although the United States led that part. Several key nuclear sites were hit, and attention was given to Iran’s stockpile of enriched uranium, which could potentially be used to make nuclear weapons.
Later in the war, Israel expanded its attacks to include dual purpose economic targets such as gas infrastructure, steel factories, petrochemical plants, and transport routes. These strikes were meant to weaken Iranian military and economic industry, and disrupt its ability to move weapons.
At the start of the war, major Israeli strikes killed many top Iranian leaders, including Iran’s supreme leader and dozens of senior military commanders. Over the course of the war, many more officers were killed. Israel estimates about 5,000 Iranian soldiers were killed and many more were wounded, while other estimates suggest several thousand total deaths in Iran. Thirteen US service members were also killed.
Overall, the war caused heavy damage to Iran’s military, leadership, and infrastructure, while missile attacks from Iran caused civilian deaths, injuries, and destruction in Israel.
Good to see that Iran has a near perfect civilian casualty rate across all combat theaters.
Lol 25,000 strikes on Iran, and they’re still unfazed. Maybe 25,000 more will do it.
Before this past year, I would never have expected a war we go into to be so completely devoid of actual strategy and just pure bloodlust.
It’s kind of hilarious how silent certain people have been about Iran killing Palestinians.
Stratigic stockpiles reduced from 2500 to 1000,
Not counting launchers.
Same gains in Lebanon.
Gaza artillery capability is defunct.
A catastrophic threat of genocide (by overwhelming the IDF defense system combined with shock terror troops (Radawan and Nukbha)) over Israel was lifted.
Not to mention, nuclear threat postponed probably another 1-3 years.
This is a major historic win. But war is not over.
Yup, total disaster for Israel. They achieved nothing, just opposite. They got a more hardline regime in Iran and increased Iran’s influence with Iran now controlling the straight and have shown there is nothing that Israel and US can do to achieve any strategic victory.
