Scandal after Scandal after taking away rights, after blaming Ottawa for things they’re responsible for, after Scandal…
No wonder Ottawa Liberals generally don’t trip over themselves trying to placate Alberta, they’d vote for a blue fence post (and did with PP) rather than trying to switch things up to see what gets them a pipeline (NDP).

Looks like people don’t want a centrist NDP.
Can’t say I’m surprised as liberalism is (rightfully) dead in Alberta.
When you don’t stand for anything, it’s difficult to compel anyone to vote for you.
This is almost pathetic, given how unpopular the sitting government is. To screw this up requires a considerable level of negligence.

>Most UCP voters see Lewis as a disincentive to voting NDP; 59% report they are less likely to vote for the provincial NDP with Lewis leading the federal NDP, while 33% report no impact and only 4% report being more likely to vote NDP.”
>Only 9% of Alberta residents report that Avi Lewis being leader of the federal NDP makes them more likely to vote NDP in the next provincial election, while 41% report no impact, and 36% are less likely to vote NDP.
The ANDP was already struggling, and it looks like many people’s concerns that Lewis would make things worse have been validated. It’s hard to imagine things will improve because Lewis has horrible message control and struggles to understand the consequences of some of his policies, particularly around energy and natural resource management but also immigration. A rebrand might be the only option for the ANDP at this point because it doesn’t seem like the provincial affiliates in the prairies can shake off the stink of the federal party, especially under Lewis.
Another important note is that Lewis divides the party at the provincial level in Alberta and Saskatchewan. Lewis has energized a certain section of the provincial base to be unapologetically progressive and have very strong environmental beliefs, and many of them hate the ANDP and SNDP for distancing themselves from Lewis. You can’t support him and win, but you can’t oppose him without upsetting his supporters. It’s a lose-lose situation for both the ANDP and SNDP. The situation isn’t sustainable, and something will have to change in the near future if we ever want to get rid of the UCP.

It certainly looks like the UCP are going to get re-elected despite everything.
Alberta is somewhat looking like Ontario – in theory there’s a polarizing and beatable incumbent but the opposition is a hot mess that cannot seem to land on a message that resonates enough to get over the hump.
The ANDP really need to get their shit together fast because right now they are coasting towards a big defeat.

The dramatics of federal NDP supporters trying to chine in. , im actually liking it and I think Nenshi is playing a good stategey in it .

Nenshi isn’t visible enough, where the hell is he? The ANDP are dropping the ball on messaging, they need solutions that aren’t “UCP bad”. We know they’re bad.

I’m sorry but the UCP leading the NDP 48-41 in the Edmonton region is an outlier again. The fact that Calgary also has similar numbers for the UCP and NDP should raise eyebrows.
There’s also the question that there’s an 11-12% vote parked for „another party“, with most probably going to the Alberta Liberals. We’ve seen this in multiple polls people where the Liberals have some of that polling vote, only to end up with the NDP since the AB Liberals are dead.
What should be worrying is that both Calgary and Edmonton’s have 60% thinking the province is on the wrong track. That’s not easy to reverse.

They have Nenshi dressed up like a Hogwarts professor going tsk tsk in everything I’ve seen from him. He needs to go out and drive a truck, wear a carhartt jacket and clean up some oil or something and say something that makes regular joes pump their fists

Absolutely insane. Fast tracking a referendum on separation no one wants but apparently will continue to support. Fucking how?

It sucks because I know people wanna say, well maybe it’s good to be further left NDP in AB and like to shit on ANDP for being too neo liberal? I don’t even know. All the while the virtue signaling is going on, real world consequences from these right wing parties are affecting people’s lives. Happened in the US too with trump. So yeah maybe the system in and of itself needs fixing, I agree with that. But remember while spewing rhetoric that people are affected by these right wing governments in the real world and it’s not good.
Ie.ANDP made AB Canada’s highest minimum wage. Conservatives back at it fuckin around, here we go with lowest in Canada again. Ab needs an enema
