      Vladimir Putin has announced an Easter truce across Ukraine.

      After repeated proposals from Volodymyr Zelensky, the Kremlin said on Thursday night that its forces would stop fighting from Saturday afternoon until Sunday.

      “In connection with the approaching Orthodox holiday of Easter, a ceasefire is declared from 4pm on April 11 until the end of the day on April 12, 2026,” the Kremlin said. The holiday is celebrated on April 12 in both Russia and Ukraine.

      Moscow’s military has “been given orders to cease military operations in all directions for this period,” the statement said, adding: “We assume that the Ukrainian side will follow the example of the Russian Federation.”

      While the news may offer some relief to Ukrainians, Kyiv will be highly sceptical about whether Russia really intends to cease fighting.

      The Russians will try to use this time to move men and equipment up past the front. Then they will claim Ukraine broke the ceasefire when they try to stop them.

      Or they’ll just lie and say Ukraine broke it anyway.

      We all know when putin or lavrov is lying, they open their mouths or they make a statement. Luckily most of the world knows this. There are a few exceptions tho.

      Unfortunately the Uniate, aka Easten Catholic Church has recently switched to the gregorian calendar and their Easter is already over.
