What does it matter if he doesn’t actually get impeached and removed? A majority of people want Donald Trump gone but the politicians they elected clearly don’t.

The only red line after threatening a genocide is committing one. Republicans in Congress could end this — whatever happens next is 100% their fault.

But what i don’t get, if he was impeached and removed, they still have a republican president. Its not like there is suddenly a new election. They still have vance for the next 3 years if trump was removed.  So why are the Republicans in congress and the senate not interested in doing that?

  4. [OP] Important note – the article text discloses that „Fifty-two percent of registered voters back [impeachment](https://www.newsweek.com/topic/impeachment) compared to 40 percent opposed, according to the survey of 790 voters *commissioned by two groups opposing his Iran war and other policies.“*

That may affect the accuracy of the results.

  5. I know many senators are reluctant to try again. But – they should and they should include ALL of the illegal things he’s done over the past 10 years, not just one narrow thing. Jack Smith’s report on overturning the 2020 election, mismanagement of sensitive documents, obstruction of justice in the investigation of Russian interference in the 2016 election, involvement in the Epstein sex crimes ring, threatening to inflict genocide in the Iranian people (even if only as a negotiation tactic) etc.
it would probably be the best thing Republican can do for themselves prior to the midterms.

  6. I support convicting him and his administration of treason and the punishment to be carried out immediately

    Cool. Cool cool cool.

If only we actually got a say in the process instead of our awful “representatives.”

The only opinions that ultimately matter are a couple seats in the house and 21 seats in the senate. You’d need a couple republican reps to vote with democrats and 20 Republicans and Fetterman in the senate.

Nothing is more important to republicans than winning elections – if they get a whiff of some success by impeaching Trump, they will do it.

Gonna be an interesting ride these next 6 months.

“most americans” in a poll always depends on how the question was asked and who they sampled

So being a pedophile wasn’t enough, he had to threaten genocide and make gas 8$ a gallon to us here. Ok

We want him dragged out of the oval in handcuffs for high treason. All of them are treasonous bastards.

I want him removed as much as the next guy, but this article is why I have removed Newsweek from my news diet

A *majority* has nothing to do with impeachment. It’s a comically low bar. No President should face impeachment over a mere majority of the public.

The Constitution requires an insanely high degree of certainty across the political spectrum. It’s like a jury trial for a crime. As it should be.

Whatever he does to warrant impeachment and removal needs to be substantially worse than January 6th, or after the Senate’s membership changes dramatically in Democrats‘ favor.

Yes we could impeach him again with no expectation of removal, but that’s pointless posturing.

Article II, Section 4; it’s the only way we have a chance of pulling all the rot out.

  15. Backed by 9 provinces and 3 territories in Canada too! That day can’t come soon enough.

    >“The survey’s two sponsors were Impeach Trump. Again. and Free Speech For People, two progressive advocacy groups.“

  17. I mean, while this good energy, WHY WAS THIS NOT DONE THE MOMENT ANY OF THE EPSTEIN FILES DROPPED?? So much god damn showboating and empty words. Actions fucking matter!

  18. ThrowinSm0ke on

The part that concerns me the most is what the rest of congress/senate and every other politician is doing….which is nothing.

  19. No, he won’t get removed. Doesn’t matter. Keep throwing it at him. Humiliate him. Make the Republicans own it each time they refuse to hold a demented madman accountable.

  20. WhateverYouSay1084 on

He’s already been impeached twice now. He’s a 34x felon. Nothing has ever happened to him. I don’t know why they’re bothering, it’s not like any of them have the balls to actually remove him. This country sucks.

  21. „Fifty-two percent of registered voters back impeachment compared to 40 percent opposed, according to the survey of 790 voters commissioned by two groups opposing his Iran war and other policies. The finding includes one in seven Republicans supporting removal proceedings.“

So, 790 people polled which is not in any way even close to statistically sound plus, „1 in 7“ republicans support it. That’s 14% of Republicans polled. That click bait title and article are bullshit.

  22. Need to see a dozen republican politicians flip on Trump in a matter of a week

  23. It really only matters what the republicans in the senate think. damn if only there was some way to control who was in the senate. Some clowns on the internet told me that voting doesn’t matter though

  24. not-sure-what-to-put on

We don’t want impeachment. We want prosecution and imprisonment.

  25. Unless it is the people next to an R in their name that were elected to represent them in Washington. If 100% of the people backed it, yet those people didn’t, really doesn’t mean much at all.
