Sinking ship, or just fed up that Poilievre is not following the comms plan to make him look more like a Prime Minister?

Beaverton Headline: Despite not being an elected MP, Pierre’s communications director Katy Merrifield crossed the floor to join the Liberals.

Ironically this might be the best thing I’ve heard out of Pierre’s camp in a while, mostly because it didn’t come with the reaction of „what are you thinking, why would you say/do that?“ right after reading the headline.

It says nothing about why she’s leaving other than to pursue „passion projects“ she apparently put on hold to take the job with the Conservatives. The Conservative party accepted her recommendations for her replacement, so it looks like she was well respected. There’s not a lot to go on, but it doesn’t look like she considers the conservative job a „passion project.“

>Merrifield joined Poilievre’s team last year around the time he began doing more mainstream media interviews and reaching out to talk to as many people as possible.
That’s an interesting way to say „after the election“. I wonder whether she had enough of trying to change the tone, or if Poilievre tried of this new comms approach?

So this has to be related to the floor crossing, right? I think a lot of people in the party don’t want to be in opposition for 4 years.

This is a humiliation ritual for Pierre at this point. I’m assuming that she’s the one that moderated his tone for a hot minute and got him on Rogan ? Can’t be happy that PP slipped right back into his old habits and probably doesn’t want the stink of his failure on her CV

Lil‘ PP, undoubtedly the greatest orator in the history of Canadian politics, needs no communications director. He’s doing beautifully all on his own…

He’s lost his communications director and a long time MP in one day. How long can he remain the leader in this mess?
