  1. The 25th Amendment was *designed* for a scenario like this. When the President is mentally incapable of serving. (Source: Heather Cox Richardson’s latest politics chat.)

Every week there’s another Democrat filing something, calling for something, demanding something, and nothing moves because Republicans control every lever.

At some point the question stops being whether Trump deserves removal and becomes why anyone expected this system to enforce its own rules.

You have Trump Derangement Syndrome if you believed any of these statements by Trump.

„I’m not going to start a war. I’m going to stop wars“

    „The Endless Wars Must End!“

„I was elected on getting out of these ridiculous endless wars“

    „I don’t start wars — I end them“

„We will stop racing to topple foreign regimes that we know nothing about“

“Our president [Obama] will start a war with Iran because he has absolutely no ability to negotiate. He’s weak and he’s ineffective.”

“Under my administration, we will be slashing energy and electricity prices by half within 12 months, at a maximum 18 months”

“We’re going to get your energy prices down. We’re going to get your energy prices down by 50%.”

“Energy is going to bring us back. That means we’re going down and getting gasoline below $2 a gallon, bring down the price of everything from electricity rates to groceries, airfares, and housing costs.”

Nothing will happen. The entire Republican party is complicit, and 30%-50% of the country are morons who either voted for this or don’t care. Our political system is broken. We need to begin looking at the historic ways that working people have enforced their power outside of established systems.

Massive general strikes and solidarity pushed America from kids in coal mines and robber barons to 8 hour days and weekends. I suggest we start there on May 1st, or now, now is good too.

Impeachment is fantasy. The justification will be that this is just „Trump being Trump“ again. You know, *he says things*…

When are people going to learn that doing the 25th Amendment is harder than impeachment, conviction, and removal?

  7. I’m interested that you think this is dementia. Trump has always been like this. He has managed to not reveal most of it until now. But there have been all sorts of indicators.

This is a mentally defective and unstable person under pressure. He is deeply fearful person without moral foundations. And he has been allowed to get away with things all his life. Now his bombastic and loud style of bluster isn’t working.

What did you think would happen when you allowed a liar and fraudster become President? He doesn’t care about anyone but himself. He never has.

  8. I’m confused. Hasn’t he already been impeached in the past? And this time something is actually going to happen? He’s going to be removed from office this time? I’m supposed to believe this?

Kudos to Representative Larson for showing some spine and taking actual action instead of just using strong words. Now every Democratic representative must do everything they can to convince their Republican colleagues to follow suit

  10. Congress is on vacation, everyone is waiting until January of next year so they can install President Vance for 10 years against everyone’s wishes. Hence why he is campaigning for a dictator (Orbin) RIGHT NOW. Instead of being in the states. He can say “I didn’t know” like Mike Johnson and Republicans will say nothing can happen, because they’re on recess.

Politically Dems and Republicans calling for the 25th are going to have a loooot to campaign on after the Trump era subsides and all Republicans say they hardly knew him and Dems say we fought against him.

  12. I was just thinking he will never face charges for anything because they will claim he has dementia

  13. It will never work.

    – Trump will say somehting like I’m gonna bomb Iran back to the stone age, then at the last moment chikcen out and say „Oh!, it’s only a negotiating tactic…“

    – It takes the Cabinet to invoke the 25th, good luck with that.

Why is the word articles plural? Is an item on a list an article? Is it better to file one article or many? If you file many charges, there is a risk of the trial lasting too long.

Honest question – what are the chances his handlers let him get sick enough or have a fall that incapacitates him so they don’t have to go through all the proceedings? They have to know that many Rs are already doomed to lose in the midterms. There’s no way they can wait until then to let Vance take over. He’s already proven how irrational he is and just making more problems than what it’s worth. Is this seriously their sunk cost? Is this the point where many Rs start going against him but magically everything resolves itself? They still look like they’ve stood up against all this and might save a few seats. But the seats that are guaranteed to stay R don’t have to worry about the process of looking weak. It’d be a win-win in some cases at least.
    Edit to fix a typo

  16. JD won’t sign off on the 25th until he clears the hurdle set by the 22nd. He doesn’t want to ruin his chances at two full presidential terms by acting too early. We’ll need to wait until Jan 20, 2027 at least.

  17. It’s been beyond time, but we need to demand it now. Who knows what damage he’ll do the next opportunity he gets. Grandpa don’t need those codes.

We take to the streets now. All day, everyday, till he is gone. Spread the word. Enough
