This is President trump finding a way out to solidify the GOP midterm elections, and Iran proabably seeing the the Us not directly involved while Oman, and Iran collect what amounts to taxes to gross the Straights of harmouz, and the terms between iran and the us on both sides remaining ambiguous, as well as the leadership remaining in tact, and proabably could start it nuke program at any notice as a victory.

Now iran has all it proxies (ie – Iraqi PMF milltias, Houthis, Hezbollah) and itself all solely focused on Israel with receptors and missle defense protection running low.

Btw Qatar is asking for a partial withdrawl of us troops from tual UdeiedAir base, and Qatar seems to have reached some understanding with Iran, Turkey , Egypt, Pakistan all claimed neutrality and weathered the storm it seems, us influence in the region is somewhat weakened, and long term might be damaged, ain’t nobody except israel, the uae and maybe the saudis (deepening on if MBS wants to risk economic risks for a conflict) want conflict with Iran.

In short this ceasefire is a very important long term symbolic, economic and geostragetic victory for Iran, and may put in motion over time a us drawdown in the region that rolls back pax-Americana , like the suez crisis put into motion the begining of the end of the British empire (which was already declining btw after ww2)
