  1. why did trump not let him know?

    because incompetence?

    because doesn’t give a shit?

because purposely left him out of the loop so he looked stupid?

    because forgot?

    why not all 4

Lol @ Vance thinking that running as Trump’s stooge VP would actually benefit his subsequent political career instead of ending it.

    >“I do have a message from Steve Witkoff,” Vance acknowledged awkwardly.

    >“Wouldn’t you like to know the subject of this message?” Vance continued. “But no, uh, I need to read it first before I talk about it. But here’s, here’s … uh, what time is it in the United States right now?”

    >The uncomfortable lapse became even more unsettling when a Reuters reporter urged Vance to properly read up before speaking with the press about his apparently misinformed analysis of the war.

I honestly don’t know whether to laugh or cry at this point. Both, I guess.

He was advocating against the attack so I can he why and how he was left out

Maybe it is so he does not get any crazy ideas about the 25th Amendment. After all, that would be probably his only chance of being president.

  7. Ok-Lets-Talk-It-Out on

I find it funny that Vance keeps getting tacked onto things as an afterthought. I think it’s basically a mix of having a fall guy and realizing they have to make it lol like he actually has some sort of impact on anything besides bumbling around.

Dude took 8 vacations in the first seven months of the new term. That’s not even including the travel he did to promote trumps agenda for five minutes and then spend multiple days sight seeing.

Absolutely worthless and is going to cost the US taxpayers hundreds of thousands of dollars in reupholstering costs for every cushion he’s fucked.

Edit: saw this in the AP News live thread; *The vice president attempted to dial the president in front of the crowd and first got an automated message saying the voicemail box wasn’t set up, to laughter from attendees. Soon after, he got Trump on the phone and put him on speaker for the crowd.*

    Literally a laughingstock internationally.

Trump sent him away so he doesn’t get any thoughts about the 25th Amendment at this moment. And that doesn’t give me hope that this is just bluster.

  9. This is what happens when you have a deranged president making threats of genocide without consulting his own administration. Vance looked completely unprepared and out of the loop while Trump was literally threatening to end Iranian civilization by 8 p.m. The fact that our VP is learning about potential nuclear escalation from reporters instead of being briefed shows how chaotic this administration really is.

JD Vance acting like he’s not complicit so he can come in as the voice of reason

    > “You did say that the military objectives of this war have been achieved. So could you help us understand why the president is still threatening to attack every bridge and every power plant in Iran?”

Vance destroyed any hopes of a political future by joining Trumps administration.

It’s insane that Vance is overseas doing putin’s bidding while our president is talking about blowing up and entire country and its people. Someone needs to stop him immediately

  14. Jimbo415650 on

this is actually a good thing. JD needs to organize the administration for the 25th amendment but JD just doofus will sit it out on the couch

  15. I have a hunch that Vance opposes the war, but is too weak and cowardly to express that or do anything about it. That’s why he’s been marginalized. The core Trump group wants to blow shit up and Vance is kind of a buzzkill in his lack of enthusiasm about it.

If Vance wants to lead the GOP going forward, now’s the time. Lead the 25th amendment efforts and seize control. He’d have lots of time to shape the presidency in his, still shitty, but less apocalyptic vision. But I don’t think he has that in him. He wasn’t drafted by Trump to show a spine.

  16. VanguardAvenger on

Or, he pretended not to know.

If Trump actually carries out his threat (which he won’t, Trump and blustering are synonyms at this point) Vance seeming to have plausible deniablity about the whole thing is exactly why Republicans can convince people that replacing Trump with Vance really is going to be a meaningful change….Vance wasn’t involved in any of Trump’s insane shit.

  17. aircooledJenkins on

    >“The president of the United States is a man who recognizes leverage,” Vance said. “That if the Iranians want to exact a certain amount of pain, the United States has the ability to exact much, much greater pain.”

What pain are they extracting? They’re defending themselves from a bullshit invasion. If the US hadn’t started stomping all over Iran, there’d be no need for pain.

  18. KnotSoSalty on

Until Dick Cheney it wasn’t uncommon for the VP to be completely out of the loop. Cheney installed his cronies all over the executive branch to prevent that exact scenario. Obama and Biden seemed to have a working relationship but Obama tended to use him like a cabinet member. Pence was a non-entity. Harris was stuck shepherding bills through the senate. Vance seems like a rouge actor.

  19. StrawberryLeap on

So you think that his stuttering is due in part to him learning that they are dropping nukes tonight?

  20. natural_disaster0 on

Not buying it; they are trying to save face for when Trump takes a big L.

  21. I remember some random story (truthfulness unknown) about how the Allies stopped trying to assassinate Hitler because they realized he was calling too many of the shots in the military and that he was an awful tactician. Assassinating him risked someone else with more battle sense taking over.

It’s weird to see this from the other side.

  22. why is the VP, during a war, spending his time campaigning for an autocrat in Hungary
