Well I’m absolutely shocked that leaving your keys by the front door hasn’t helped the break and enter situation at all.

    They need a neighborhood watch.

Unless a neighbor is robbing another neighbor, someone usually cases the neighborhood before a break-in. You’d think that if they had a neighborhood watch, they would spot these early warning signs.

Where all the people say that no one has any reason to be concerned? Come on y’all keep telling me this is a rare occurrence in Canada.

The amount of armed home invasion that are captured on video should be setting off alarms, never mind the ones that we can’t watch happen.

How about letting home owners the right to self-defence. The RCMP have proven to be unreliable these days.

Is it because the Rosedale area is known to be affluent AKA having stuff worth stealing? That would admittedly not make the thinking right but make it logical.

At the same time the other side of the coin is those thugs are going against affluent people who can collectively afford extra neighbourhood private security patrols, 24/7 remote monitoring, bulletproofed entry points and perhaps even a modification of police deployment after calling in some “favour”.

  7. We had a group of 13 men in my community doing this, night patrols, there are no RCMP shifts after 11pm. They were shut down in January by the provinces Solicitor General. This group was so engaged with the community that they had walk talkies for easy communication within the group and Body Cams. They would often do wellness checks of persons sleeping in the local parks offering to help them to get to the services they need.

They would post a weekly report on FB, images with faces blurred. Often reporting returning stolen bicycles and other stolen items that had been posted on other pages. How many km’s they’d patrolled that week, up to 2000km with personal vehicles and donated gas. If they transported someone to an addictions clinic. How many illegal camp sites they cleaned up in the river valley. They were truly helping in the community and have a lot of support.

This week, we had 2 armed robberies at local lounges in the middle of the day. There was another incident at 7pm where 2 pedestrians were stopped by 2 masked males and shot in the face with BB guns. The assailants drove off, yet to be found.

Sad that this group is shut down now because the local RCMP members didn’t like that someone was doing their JOB, and calling them when it was a crime in progress.

May be the police drive around in the neighbourhoods instead of trying to catch people going over the speed limit by 15km/h on long straight parts of the road.
