I hope we can look past our predjudices and raise all ships through trade. Maybe we can learn a thing or two from each other.

America doesn’t want to be our allies, so be it. The enemy of our enemy is our friend.

Remember that the original point of the pact is to provide the member countries a way to trade without becoming overly reliant on China. Adding China to the pact would undermine that so yea, of course they want to join.

    >China first applied for membership in 2021 but has been blocked several times.
“They would be interested in having the support of Canada regarding access to CPTPP. I reminded them that Canada helped China join the World Trade Organization,” Sen. Gignac said. “I am not in the executive [cabinet] and I don’t know whether Canada will support or not, but I hope Canada will do that.”

  5. Maybe we should sponsor them if they’re ready to meet a couple of conditions like backing off the Taiwan strait, because that would sponsor peaceful trade. China’s basically world leader rivalled by only the EU. So lets link the two and be happy go lucky middlemen.

Canada keeps stumping on itself trying to “stick it to the Americans”
