> Permission for Kanye West to enter the UK is currently being reviewed by ministers, Sky News understands, following mounting pressure over his booking as the headline act for Wireless Festival.
> It comes as another commercial partner distanced itself from the festival on Monday amid strong criticism over the US rapper’s previous antisemitic comments, including from the prime minister.
> Calls have been growing for Wireless organisers to cancel the booking and for the government to ban the rapper from entering the country, after it was announced last week that he would headline all three nights of the event in London in July.
> While the government has not been made aware of immediate plans for West to travel to the UK, his permission to enter is currently being reviewed by ministers.
> Sky News also understands trhat Rockstar Energy has withdrawn its sponsorship, after Pepsi and Diageo pulled out at the weekend.
> Prime Minister Keir Starmer said it was „deeply concerning“ that West had been booked „despite his previous antisemitic remarks and celebration of Nazism“.
> The Conservative Party is among those calling on the government to refuse entry to the UK.
> Shadow home secretary Chris Philp described the musician’s previous comments as „not a one-off lapse, but a pattern of behaviour that has caused real offence and distress to Jewish communities“.
> He added: „At a time when antisemitism is rising in the UK, allowing someone with his track record to headline a major public event sends entirely the wrong message.“

honestly this is what happens when celebrity culture meets politics
either you treat entry rules consistently or you dont and it becomes a pr mess every time a controversial famous person turns up
if theres a genuine legal reason to block him then do it if not then the “under review” headlines are just fuel for more drama and free marketing

I despise him but the government shouldn’t only hold entries to standards when the are personally offended or notice. They want to make it universal fine but picking and choosing depending on the person and how much outrage among MPs is wrong.
He should come by small boat. We’d be hearing how it’s „un-British“ to send him home.

Ridiculous to ban a celebrity from entering. It’s not like he’s going to be claiming asylum.
Why has Ye’s inclusion on the Wireless lineup been so controversial? Because he has made[ a tonne of antisemitic comments online over the years](https://www.ajc.org/news/5-of-kanye-wests-antisemitic-remarks-explained), and has only more recently issued a public apology, blaming an undiagnosed brain injury and episodes of psychosis for his previous actions.
This is somebody who just over a year ago spent millions on running a Superbowl ad [directing viwers to his website, where he was selling a swastika t-shirt](https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/yes-website-selling-swastika-shirts-boosting-profile-super-bowl-ad-rcna191432) and released a song called [„Heil Hitler“](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heil_Hitler_(song)) just eleven months ago.
I’m shocked that the Wireless organizers even thought it was a good idea to approach him and offer him a headline spot in the first place…
Ridiculous to ban him over anti-Semitism with who we already let in.
