This would be the least egregious violation – especially when the US president comes out and says we will put them back into the Stone Age.. and their Goebbels war secretary spouting nonsense every day

What laws of war? And who will hold the country accountable? I bet Russia and Ukraine are breaking all sorts of war crimes ain’t no one going to do a dam thing

When they do it, it´s evil, a war crime and a violation of rules. When we do it is ¨may¨. Lol, the blatant hypocrisy is boring at this point.

Does it? I’d say these hotels just become legitimate military targets if they host active military forces. In Ukraine & Russia we’ve seen hundreds of civilian places being targeted because they’re used by soldiers. During wars civilian places are very often used by soldiers, and it’s not illegal afaik, it just means these places can be targeted legally.

    5. If they place them there specifically to avoid being targeted by Iranian missiles, and they aren’t evacuated from regular civilians then yes that would probably be a violation. It will turn hotels into legitimate military targets.

Considering Iran dosen’t even feign adherence to international law such a minor violation is kinda irrelevant, but it can also sour relations with host countries so I’m not sure it’s wise.

    6. I hit the paywall but I’m guessing the rationale is that embedding troops at civilian hotels might make those civilians a target

Nonsense. These hotels are far from the front lines and there is lots of precedence for troops to be billeted with civilans.

Third, civilians can choose not to stay at those hotels.
