My take was there are folk at UN asking what to do if US/Israel used nukes. That is an unsettling discussion for sure. I did not read a line saying there were UN plans/ discussions endorsing use of nukes. I may have missed something.

Look, I wouldn’t put anything past Trump but this guy has had some pretty controversial views, and he advocates for Lebanon.

He doesn’t work for the UN he works for an NGO facing the UN, so he’s not an insider

Govts and international organisations contingency officer plan for things like nuclear attack all the time as a way to test corporate resilience

Why would anyone nuke Tehran when the nuclear sites are elsewhere?

Sounds like he gave up his career for not very much

For the record, the quote is “the UN is preparing for possible nuclear weapon use in Iran”. Based on the leadership of the un and other countries involved, this does not mean the UN would be using the nuke. It potentially means some other nation intends to use a nuke, no one can stop them and the UN is deciding how to pick up the pieces afterwards. It is left as an exercise for the reader to determine for themselves which other country that is involved and has nukes and is led by a group crazy enough to not care about the cost to human life might be the one to use it.

If there is prep to handle the scenario, it means that the scenario’s existence must be a credible threat

That can happen when insiders know what’s being planned

The UN should have been going hammer and tongs trying to prevent even the discussion of such possibilities

Is that why Trump is so confident that he’ll end the war soon? By nuking Iran???

  8. I love how even though this tells us nothing people are in the comments assuming Trump and the US drew up plans to nuke Iran.

How quickly people lose perspective on everything that matters…

The country that has a much stronger sentiment towards wiping out their enemies, where half of the government is ran by religious zealots, and has nukes?

    That is Israel.

he’s a seasoned UN envoy. I think giving up his career to warn the world… he knows something is going on, that there’s a possibility of a nuclear strike. IT MEANS the US AND ISRAEL WOULD CARRY IT OUT. and of course that makes sense for Israel. ELIMINATING IRAN, after Gaza, and poisoning /literally going “scorched earth” in Lebanon.

  10. UN doesn’t have a nuke, it’s not a country. Even if this imaginary nuke exist, it still need the UN security council approval to use it because again, it’s not a country. China and Russia would veto anyone that would bring that up in the meeting.

Even if they work like an independent country government like a lot people think, the UN has make it pretty clear that they do not support the US-Israel aggression in this war.

I think this guy is delulu.

  11. Yes, the UN and its mighty standing army is planning to use their nukes in Iran. And not, the UN is preparing what to do in case nuclear weapons are used
