20 elite schools ($58K+ tuition) ranked by what families earning $0-30K/year actually pay. Washington & Lee: $64,525 listed, $76 actual. Harvard: $59,076 listed, $2,895 actual. This is federally reported data. Schools are required to disclose net price by income bracket.
And this is why you fill out those net price calculators before deciding a school is too expensive, folks.

this doesn’t seem accurate. e.g. UChicago has it’s odyssey scholar program where if you’re admitted and your custodial parents make below a certain threshold (from what I can tell about 80k combined) you get a full ride, full stop. Free room and board + tuition + all the other perks of being an undergrad at the school, but they aren’t even on here. I am fairly certain other top schools don’t charge any tuition whatsoever for students whose parents make significantly more than 30k (though they might charge room and board) and I would assume they have similar programs to uchicago’s odyssey scholar.

What about the families in poverty earning over 30k? What an insane poverty line these days.
