    1. **In Brief:**

      * Foreign Affairs Minister Anita Anand will join multi-nation talks hosted by the U.K. on Thursday on finding diplomatic options to reopen the Strait of Hormuz trade corridor.
      * Anand says all countries involved should know Canada will not hesitate to help secure the strait once there is a ceasefire, but the Liberal government has not decided yet on specific measures.
      * The Iran war has disrupted shipments of energy commodities through the strait, causing global oil prices to surge over the past month.

      —————–

*Does/should Canada have a role in reopening the Strait?*

The UK is the most exposed country, no longer being in the EU.

Be interesting to see how they respond to Trump telling them their oil is there, just go get it.

Not having the two war aggressors at the table is beyond pointless posturing.
This is as pointless as it is desperate.
Imagine trying to negotiate a vital aspect of WWII without the Germans at the table.

Do not validate the US‘ actions in the Gulf in any way, especially by cleaning up their mess. They shit the bed, they can lay in it or do the laundry. They, and they alone, need come to an agreement with Iran, not anyone else.

We should advocate for an opening to everything but ships and cargo bound to/from the United States.

It will end with everyone paying Iran that 1% toll. It’s already happening.
