      Security insiders job description is to make sure to prepare for everything and flag what could happen. It’s worthwhile keeping in mind that preparing for and talking about what could happen doesn’t mean that thing is likely to happen.

      If you want to see the state of the Russian military there is a documentary on bbc I player about defectors called zero line – it was a difficult watch but also makes you realise Russian soldiers are struggling not just in numbers but also mentally – made me feel sorry for some of them, there is no way in hell these guys could get a few metres into European territory against special forces

      Europe has something like 20 times of the economic  and military capacity.

      What Russia has is a shitload of nuclear warheads. Much like North Korea.

      I see people not being convinced. You have to change your thinking a little. It wouldn’t be about winning for ruzzia, or land grabbing, they would ofc say something like that. But attack in this circumstances would be only for one reason, to divide.

      Small scale attack on Baltics or Suwałki gap, that can be easily contained, that’s not looking like all in, and by that not triggering nuclear response(not just nukes, but Europe not obliterating their whole industry in 24h), something that can be denied(little green man). And then gauging our reaction.

      (Countries below are random examples)
      Is Portugal gonna complain? Is Germany gonna be to slow. Is Poland gonna loose their shit. Who’s Hungary gonna help. Is Italy even aware? This would be a goal, putler would bet on some of those happening, for us to loose our unity, if they can grab some land while doing it, great. If only thing they can achieve is division, also great.

      With USA firmly in NATO, just that wasn’t worth trying, without USA partaking in any way, putler could want to do this bet, he is stupid after all.

      And yes, they have enough forces to militarily try this, even while fighting in Ukraine. On the other hand, if this would be short, and even if Europe win, ruzzia can easily mobilize forcefully it’s population and use it in Ukraine.

      I say, we are in danger zone right now. Hold the line my European siblings, as we can be tested.

      Looking like Hungary might try and squeeze Ukraine from the west over the pipeline supply issue. Things are starting to snowball, and these conflicts are starting to link together. Dangerous trends.

      I don’t think Russia can take on the EU at all. But what the EU did in the Iran war is not very smart, all ideological but not pragmatic. The EU will find it hard (but not impossible) to repel Russia aggression without the US.

      Putin can’t invade shit, he is stuck in invading Urkainie, a country that Russia should have overrun years ago. Not underestimating the fight Ukrainians put on, but Russia’s economy is the size of Italy’s.

      Problem is, Europe outmatches Russia in any metric that matters, to a degree that it is laughable, but nuclear weapons and, more importantly, direction/unity. If Putin wills, the few reaming Russian tanks will roll, if von der Leyen wills it, maybe something will happen, sometime, somewhere.

      I feel like everyone in this thread forgot you can attack with only drones now and kinda coping. You dont need conventional forces anymore to do damage, and europe needs to be ready.
